The government has prepared to declare the areas affected by floods, landslides and inundation due to incessant rains as crisis areas. Incessant rains last Friday and Saturday (October 11th and 12th) caused huge loss of life in various parts of the country.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has recommended to the government on Friday to identify such areas and declare them as threatened areas. The authority has not released the names of the affected municipalities. However, it is said that more than two dozen such municipalities have been identified. The cabinet meeting that will be held today (Friday) evening is ready to take a decision in this regard.
