After three days of incessant rain, 66 people have died due to floods, landslides and drowning.
According to the information provided by the Armed Police Force Nepal Head Office, 66 people have died and 79 others have gone missing across the country till 5 pm on Saturday. Armed Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General of Armed Police Kumar Neupane informed that 35 people were injured in the recent disaster. According to him, 34 people have died in the valley alone. 11 people died in Kathmandu, 5 in Bhaktapur and 18 in Lalitpur. Similarly, 5 in Panchthar, 2 in Dhankuta, 2 in Solukhumbu, 1 person died in Sunsari, 14 in Kavre, 1 in Dhading, 4 in Sindhupalchowk, 3 in Dolakha.
15 in Lalitpur, 26 in Kavre, 6 in Kathmandu, 7 in Makwanpur, 3 in Dolkha, 4 in Jhapa, 5 in Panchthar, 5 in Sindhupalchok and 79 people including other districts are missing, he said. More than 2,000 people have been rescued so far. It is also reported that more than 200 houses have been damaged.
The co-spokesperson of Nepal Police, Senior Superintendent of Police Vishwa Adhikari informed that the rescue is still going on with the cooperation of security agencies and organizations involved in the rescue. According to him, more than 10,000 security personnel from Nepal Police have been mobilized for rescue. The armed police have also mobilized a team around the same.
