Immediately after the change of leadership in the Nepalese army, Nepal has given candidacy for the post of military advisor of the United Nations.

According to foreign sources, Premadhwaj Adhikari, a senior officer of the Nepali Army, was sent as a candidate. Nepal has sent its candidacy to the United Nations Headquarters through the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.

According to the army, the post of military adviser requested by the United Nations for Nepal is the largest in terms of opportunities.

The government sent the above official as a candidate to the United Nations as a charioteer. According to military sources, he will work in the same capacity as Rathi while competing for the post and if selected as an adviser. But if he is not selected, he will remain in the same position as above in Nepal .

Nepali Army did not send any candidate despite the request of the previous Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma. As a result, the discontent in the Nepalese army increased . But as soon as the new Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel came, he sent a candidate for that post. After the former Chief of Army Staff sent a letter to the League of Nations saying that there was no candidate for the opportunity to come to Nepal, there was dissatisfaction within the army. But after the new Chief of Army Staff Sigdel took office, he sent a candidate on behalf of Nepal," said a senior military officer, "Nepal was able to send a candidate by extending more time to the League of Nations. ’  

The Deputy Secretary-General is the Security Adviser at the United Nations. 'Military Adviser' is also known as 'Millard'. The Office of Military Affairs is headed by the Military Adviser. He is accountable to the Deputy Secretary-General and has the important responsibility of providing military advice to the Deputy Secretary-General for peacekeeping operations.

Through military advisors, political affairs and on-the-ground support are requested to the Under-Secretary-General, the Secretary-General and the Security Council on related matters.  The military adviser should operate with the peacekeeping operations department, the field support department and the military 'components' under the leadership of the peacekeeping operations department. The Mission Office, which is headed by the Political Department and has military advisory functions, should also be advised by the Chief of Division.

Previously from Nepal, Chitra Bahadur Gurung worked as an assistant military adviser at the headquarters of the United Nations from November 2000 to December 2002.

Apart from the military assistant, Nepal has played the role of seven force commanders in the important positions it has received so far in the UN mission.

From Nepal, Miss Krishna Narsingh Thapa, Miss Victory Shamsher Rana, Miss Pawanjung Thapa, Miss Balanand Sharma, Miss Purnachandra Thapa, Miss Ishwar Hamal and Rathi Nirmal Kumar Thapa are force commanders. Now that Thapa will return to Golan Heights, the Nepali Army has sent Sagar Bahadur Thapa as a new candidate.

Currently, there are 6,119 people from Nepal in various missions, including 40 experts, 180 from the Armed Police Force, 33 as individuals, 113 as employees and 5,075 as peacekeepers. Compared to which the total number of Rwanda in the second place is 5 thousand 876 and the total number of Bangladesh in the third place is 5 thousand 866 .

Even though the UN has been deploying peacekeepers since 1948, Nepal has started to bear this responsibility only since 1958. After becoming a member of the UN in 1955, Nepal started participating in world peace. For the first time from Nepal, in 1958, Nepali soldiers were deployed as observers in the United Nations Observer Group in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Since 1974, Nepal has been deploying the Nepalese peacekeeping force in UNIFIL as a contingent.
