Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is going to leave today leading the Nepalese delegation to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly being held at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, USA.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly on October 10. This year's General Debate of the General Assembly is 'Leaving No One Behind: Working Together for Peace, Sustainable Development and Human Dignity for the Present and Future Generations'.
Prime Minister Oli will participate in the opening session of the general debate of the General Assembly on October 8 and the reception organized by US President Joe Biden on October 9. During his stay in New York, Prime Minister Oli will also address the conference as the chairman of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries, according to the ministry. He will also address the group high-level meeting on the existential threat posed by sea level rise and the high-level meeting on 'antimicrobial' resistance.
Prime Minister Oli will deliver a keynote address on 'Nepal's Journey to Democracy and Economic Prosperity' to be held at Columbia University on October 7 and also address the program on 'Nepal's Perspective: From Transitional Justice to Climate Justice' at the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at Harvard University on October 11. is
During the visit, there is also a program to meet with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and hold bilateral talks. Prime Minister Oli is accompanied by his wife Radhika Shakya, Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Foreign Secretary Seva Lamsal and senior officials of the Government of Nepal. Prime Minister Oli will return to the country on October 14.
