The government has announced that it will provide subsidized educational loans for higher education studies including medical education, agriculture, engineering, information technology, etc. through the revolving fund. Although it was announced that educational loans will be provided in last year's policy and program and budget, it has not been implemented.

Although there is a legal provision in the Medical Education Act to provide educational loans to medical students, the students have not been able to get loans.

On Tuesday, Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, while submitting the budget for the financial year 2081/082 in the Parliament, said that to ensure the supply of manpower in these matters, the quota provided to educational institutions will also be reviewed by projection of manpower. In the

budget, it is mentioned that the law will be amended to maintain the sustainability of government investment by focusing the medical education scholarship on the target group. At present, there is a legal provision that students studying in public medical colleges get 75 percent scholarship. The government has indicated that it will be amended.

Finance Minister Pun said that Mekid Lockje will be established in Pokhara, Bardibas, Butbal and Surkhet. It is mentioned in the budget that a feasibility study will be conducted for the establishment of medical colleges in Udaipur, Morang, Parsa and Chitwan. In the same budget, it has been announced that Shahid Dashrath Chand University of Health Sciences will be put into operation in Dhangadhi.
