The police have issued an arrest warrant against Kailash Sirohia, president of Kantipur Media Group. Chairman Sirohia has informed that the arrest warrant was issued without any inquiry regarding the complaint lodged with the Dhanusha District Police.

An arrest warrant has been issued against President Sirohia in the background of the fact that the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane has been serially airing news about the misappropriation of cooperative savings. Home Minister Lamichhane also threatened the House of Representatives last Sunday by mentioning that a parliamentary inquiry committee would not be formed based on the news published in the newspaper. Home Minister Lamichhane, who is also the chairman of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party, has mentioned the news published in Kantipur many times before and threatened him publicly.

Chairman Sirohia issuing a statement  He said that he is ready as a responsible citizen to give full support in every investigation according to the law. But he says that even Kantipur Media Group, of which he is the chairman, will not be disturbed by any retaliation and interference by abuse of state power.

'Kantipur has been interfered with in the past by abusing power and strength, I myself have gone to jail . A similar conspiracy happened on Kantipur during the absolutist royal regime and even during Lokman Singh Karki's time. However, Kantipur has been standing boldly at every hour. Even now I personally am ready to pay any price, but Kantipur is not ready to compromise on his editorial freedom and responsibility,' said President Sirohia. 

President Sirohia reminded that it is the responsibility of any media to raise the voice of investigation and action against the fraudsters in order to protect the sweat earnings of the 7.1 million members and savers of the cooperative. 

'There is no doubt that blackmailing has been done to stop the news of Kantipur and to divert the main issue, to make a complaint against me, and to issue an arrest warrant without even an inquiry. Even in the midst of all this, Kantipur will not retreat even an inch from the duty of writing news on every absurd matter including co-operative fraud,' President Sirohia said. The statement said, 'The officials who misused the power and responsibility of the police administration by taking personal revenge on the president of the media house based on writing the news, should also think about the fact that the dual passport should be investigated.

'Is the responsibility of public opinion to ensure the establishment of good governance, to cover up its own wrongdoing and take personal revenge on citizens and media who question it?,'  Chairman Sirohia's question is. 

'I believe that the government, every responsible body of the state, political parties, civil society and all conscious Nepalis should use discretion. Kantipur's warning against abuse of state power and resources is constant despite any adversity. This is the identity and legacy of Kantipur,' said the statement of President Sirohia.  

The Congress has raised the matter in the Tuesday meeting of the House of Representatives saying that an arrest warrant has been issued against President Sirohia on the basis of bias. Even now, others are not tolerated,' Congress joint general minister Badri Pandey said in the House of Representatives.

Nepal Media Society made news with Kantipur prominently  Minister of Home Affairs Lamichhane has reprimanded Jhonka for taking revenge. The president of the society, Shubshankar Kandel, issued a statement and said, 'We strongly condemn and condemn the incident of issuing an arrest warrant for registering a complaint and misusing his subordinate body as a weapon for personal gain and ego.'

The society is of the opinion that it is an undertaking of a campaign to defame a community as non-citizen by making the sensitive issue of any citizen like citizenship a subject of controversy.

'While the Home Minister himself has dual citizenship  The person guilty of misusing is . We call upon them to stand against the tendency to prove their selfishness by misusing it.'
