The third investment conference has ended with an agreement to bring 6.5 billion domestic and foreign investment into the country. According to the Investment Board, there were three investment projects and seven various cooperation agreements at the conference. These agreements were reached at a conference held on Sunday and Monday in Kathmandu. However, these projects were not included in the list of projects presented by the government for investment calls.

On the first day of the conference, an agreement was signed between Chaudhary Group's BLC Holdings and Yotta Data Services India for the construction and operation of data centers. BLC Holdings representative Megha Chaudhary and Yotta CEO Sunil Gupta signed the MoU. An agreement has been reached for the construction of data centers, cloud services and artificial intelligence platforms in the country with an investment of three and a half billion. On the second day of the conference, an agreement was signed between Sakh: & Company and Bor Group of Hotels in China to invest in the hotel business. An agreement has been reached to build a hotel at Gorusinge in Kapilvastu at a cost of 1 billion 90 crores (excluding land).  At the

conference, an agreement was signed between Australia's Expert Group and Rara Holdings Resort to build a luxury resort in Rara, Mugu. The agreement was signed by Badri Aryal, Sanjeev Sharma on behalf of Expert Group and Abhishek Vikram Shah on behalf of Rara Holdings Resort Pvt. Shah of Rara Holdings said that 1.1 billion will be spent in two phases to build the resort.  At the

conference, cooperation agreements in various fields were also signed. According to the concept of Remit Hydro, an agreement has been reached between the Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company and the Non-Resident Nepali Association, National Coordination Councils. It has been agreed that the amount of remittance will be used in the development of hydropower and other renewable energy. 

According to the company's commitment, people involved in foreign employment will participate in the share investment of the 70.3 MW capacity Simbuwa Khola hydropower project and the 77.5 MW capacity Ghunsakhola hydropower project. 29 percent of the total share capital of these two projects will be allocated for those who are employed abroad.  During the

conference, an agreement was signed between Nexgen Management Solutions Pvt Ltd and China's MABC Investments Pvt Ltd. NexGen will facilitate MABC's main company to make foreign investment in Nepal. 

An important agreement has been reached between the World Association of PPP Units and Professionals (WAP) and the Nepal Association of PPP Professionals of Practitioners (NAP) to promote public-private partnerships in Nepal. Chairman Ziad-Alexander Hayek on behalf of WAP and Chairman Anup Kumar Upadhyay on behalf of NAP signed the agreement. It is mentioned in the agreement that both organizations will cooperate on issues of common interest, exchange knowledge and experience related to public-private partnership (PPP).   Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has signed the highest number of cooperation agreements at the

conference. The federation signed an agreement with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malaysia on Sunday to promote trade and investment. Federation President Chandra Prasad Dhakal and National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia President Tan Sri Dato So Thian Lai signed the agreement. The Federation has also reached an agreement with the Federation of Malaysia Manufacture on Sunday.  On the second day of the

The agreement was signed by Khimlal Bhandari on behalf of FNCCIC and President Anuj Kumar Garg on behalf of IIA. conference, the Department of Industry has handed over approval letters for foreign investment worth 9.13 billion rupees to four investors. 6 billion for the establishment of an investment company in Bhaktapur, 3 billion for the construction and operation of commercial buildings and 76.66 million rupees for the construction of a 200 kilowatt capacity hydropower project and 62.5 million rupees for the construction of hotels and restaurants.  The

department has inaugurated and implemented the system of foreign investment approval through the automatic route at the conference itself. Domestic and foreign investments can be made through the automatic route in industries with a total capital of up to 50 million rupees. Shankarsinh Dhami, director of foreign investment and technology transfer branch of the department, said that the minimum limit is not applicable in information technology-based industries. In the conference, it was decided to sign the 327 MW Upper Marsyangdi-2, China-Nepal Friendly Industrial Park and Risen Solar Project Development Agreement (PDA). Similarly, Dabur was preparing to enter into a Project Investment Agreement (PIA) for the expansion of Nepal. But due to lack of preparation, PDA and PIA could not be done, the board said. The

conference was attended by more than 2,500 people, including more than 800 foreign delegates. During the conference, 154 projects were presented, including 19 that were solicited for a letter of intent and 9 for market sounding (collecting investor feedback). Investors have been given 45 days in the case of energy projects and 35 days in the case of non-energy projects to submit the letter of intent, the investment board said. More than 22 representatives from 55 countries participated in the conference.

In the third international investment conference, the government, the private sector and the main opposition parties unitedly urged all investors to invest in Nepal. In the closing program of the second day of the investment conference on Monday, UML President and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that the laws related to facilitating the investment and business environment in Nepal have been amended recently. "Nepal has become an investment-friendly environment, all political parties have also focused on economic issues," he said.

Oli said that this government's clear vision, unwavering commitment and result-oriented action plan to achieve its comprehensive goals should be upgraded from LDCs by 2030 to achieving sustainable development by 2030. 

Prime Minister and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Congress Chairman and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba also urged the investors gathered in Kathmandu from all over the world to invest in Nepal and to invest in foreigners. At the conference on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane also urged foreign investors to invest in Nepal. He says that the government will provide necessary protection to investors in Nepal. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha said that all top political parties have assured to facilitate investment in Nepal. "We have seen high political assurances from the government and opposition party leaders to facilitate investment in Nepal," he said. He said that most of the political aspirations of Nepal have been fulfilled in recent years and that Nepalis are moving towards the path of high economic growth to realize their aspirations for long-term development and prosperity. "Therefore, economic development and prosperity is the main historical task of the country, to which the government is fully committed," he said.

Shrestha also mentioned that the government has issued an ordinance amending eight different laws to create a favorable environment for investment in Nepal. He also said that the government approved the model framework 'Bilateral Investment Agreement' just two weeks ago and opened the way for bilateral investment agreements with interested countries. He reiterated the commitment of the Nepalese government to facilitate the possibility of every investment.  Finance Minister Varshman Pun said that the

investment conference was a grand success. He claimed that the conference was a success in a sideline meeting with ambassadors of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and various countries for Nepal who came to participate in the conference. He mentioned that he was encouraged by the active participation of development partners in the investment conference. He said that the investment conference was successful due to the significant presence of development partners, investors and stakeholders. Minister Pun claims that the attendance at the investment conference has confirmed that Nepal is one of the best investment destinations in the world. 

Finance Minister Pun also promised that cooperation with development partners will be made more harmonious in the future. The investment conference was successful due to the level of presence of investors, development partners and stakeholders. Nepal is an emerging and attractive destination for investment. And, we have succeeded in establishing the fact that there are plenty of investment opportunities here," said Minister Pun. 

The Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board of Nepal, Sushil Bhatt mentioned that the projects that have been marketed in Nepal are mainly in energy, ICT, infrastructure, technology and other sectors. He said that the conference played an important role in enhancing the bilateral investment environment.
