In front of more than 2,200 representatives from more than 50 countries, both the ruling party and opposition parties of Nepal jointly said that Nepal is an attractive destination for international investment, mentioning the creation of an investment-friendly environment in the country.
On Sunday, on the first day of the Third International Investment Conference-2024, they addressed the investors from different regions of the world and mentioned that the investment environment in Nepal is easy. Referring to the recently amended eight laws related to business and investment, Dahal added, 'I believe, this will increase the confidence of investors investing in Nepal.' The eight revised ordinance laws sent by the Council of Ministers were approved by President Ramchandra Paudel. Dahal noted that the federal system of government ensures a balanced development approach that promotes nationwide social and economic transformation.
'Nepal offers many incentives to foreign investors, including a strong regulatory framework, double taxation avoidance, protection of intellectual property rights, competitive corporate tax,' Prime Minister Dahal said, 'The Nepal government recently approved the framework of the bilateral investment agreement and aims to protect and promote it. He made it clear that direct foreign investors and national investors will not be treated in any discriminatory manner and that they will be able to repatriate profits in foreign currency.
Chairman of the main opposition party Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said that Nepal's investment system is now liberal in terms of open areas for foreign investment, tax policy and return of income. He informed that Nepal is protected by foreign investment laws and various international treaties to which Nepal is a party and mentioned that the government is willing to enter into bilateral investment protection agreements with various countries to promote Nepal as an attractive investment destination.
He said that there are areas for investment such as agriculture, tourism, infrastructure development, mining and minerals, production, hydropower and information technology. Deuba opined that various cooperation and partnerships that will be exchanged during the investment conference and the summit will pave the way for more investment flow in Nepal.
Finance Minister Varshman Pun said that the success and profit achieved by foreign investors who are currently investing in Nepal also confirms that Nepal is an excellent destination for investment. "We have made various policy reforms with the aim of improving the business environment and increasing the confidence of investors," Minister Pun said.
