The power struggle between the president Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary and the party patron Resham Chaudhary has intensified in the Civil Liberation Party, which has become decisive for the Far West government due to the change of alliance at the center. The dispute between Resham and Ranjita couple has increased over the issue of participating/not participating in the Congress-led state government. Resham has sent more ministers to the government and Ranjita has instructed them to return. After not obeying the instructions, he called the party's central committee meeting on Monday.
After the Maoists and S withdrew their support, the provincial government led by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah is in a minority. Shah is trying to extend his power with the support of RPP and independent parliamentarians by keeping immunity with him. As an effort, he has added two ministers and one state minister from civil immunity on Friday.
Civil Liberation Parliamentary Party leader Ghanshyam Choudhary was appointed Minister of Economic Affairs and Khusiram Dagoura Tharu as Minister without Department. Chief Minister Shah appointed Indira Giri as Minister of State for Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Kailash Chaudhary has been removed and Giri appointed. Unmuktika Rameshwar Chaudhary is already the Minister of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives. Along with this, three of the seven parliamentarians of civil liberties have become ministers and one minister of state.
However, President Ranjita is in favor of not supporting the Congress-led government. Resham is trying to maintain the government even if another MP is made a minister. Civil immunities were not long established. While Resham was in jail, on his own initiative, the party was registered with the Election Commission on December 19, 2078 under the chairmanship of Mrs. Ranjita. Although Ranjita was the president, all decisions were made under the instructions of Resham who was in jail. According to a civil rights leader, Ranjita used to take every decision according to Resham's advice. In the elections held within 6 months of the formation of the party, the party got good votes in the House of Representatives, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim.
When Resham got an amnesty from the President and was freed from prison last May, a rift started between him and his wife Ranjita, who was then the party president. "There is a rift between them because of the exercise of power," says a civil rights leader, "There may be other reasons internally." When Resham started running the party in his own way, Ranjita became angry saying that even though she was the president, she started acting arbitrarily without consulting.  ;
Meanwhile, the first national convention of the party was held at Tikapur in Kailali on 27th December due to the activism of Resham. He himself was elected president by the convention. Ranjita's desire to be the president herself, when Resham became Tagaro, she left Kathmandu in the middle of the conference, being dissatisfied. "During the convention, the dispute between them came to the surface," said the civil rights leader, "it has only reached its climax now." However, the commission declared the convention illegal on Thursday and woke up the old committee chaired by Ranjitha. After the commission's decision, Resham decided to support the Congress-led government by keeping the parliamentarians of Far West on his side.
Chairman Ranjita is expected to call a meeting of the central committee for Monday and formally decide to withdraw from the government of Sudurpaschim province. By making five of the seven MPs as ministers, his efforts to keep a convenient number in favor of his decision within the provincial parliamentary party have been seen. In that case, his strategy is to ignore the decision of the center by the state parliamentary party.
Sources say that Chief Minister Shah is also ready to give one more minister for civil liberties. In the event that the government can be sustained, Chief Minister Shah is working to move forward even if the ministries of social development and industry, tourism, forest and environment are divided.
