The new ruling coalition is embroiled in a tussle over who will take over the Ministry of Home Affairs. A stalemate has arisen when the attitude of exercising power dominates the coalition formed to provide services to the citizens. According to the initial agreement between the parties, Maoist will get the money and Jaspa will get foreign affairs.

The UML, the largest party in the coalition, has claimed home as it has left the economy and foreign affairs. On the other hand, RSVP has also focused on the question of whether to go to the government or not to the Ministry of Home Affairs. 

The meeting of the 4 parties held at the Prime Minister's residence Baluwatar for the division of ministries could not reach a conclusion mainly due to domestic disputes. UML Vice President Vishnu Paudel, Maoist Deputy General Secretary Varshman Pun, RSVP President Ravi Lamichhane and Jaspa President Upendra Yadav are in the working group. Even in the alliance with the Congress in the previous government, the RSVP had put forward the condition of the Ministry of Home Affairs to participate in the government. 

However, this process was stopped when the main component Congress was not ready. Now UML has also taken the same stand as Congress. UML senior official Bishnu Paudel is expecting the Ministry of Home Affairs or Finance to lead the party and go to the government. He has already told President KP Sharma Oli that if UML does not get any position, it will not join the government. UML will make Raghuveer Mahaseth its leader if it has to find an alternative. 

Newly appointed minister Padam Giri says that it is natural for UML to claim the Ministry of Home Affairs and Finance as a large party. Being the largest party, UML naturally has a claim on important ministries such as home and finance. However, the issue of who will take which ministry will be decided through discussion, he said.

 Maoist is also in favor of giving Home Ministry to UML. UML should get one of the ministries of finance and home as the largest party. The Prime Minister's desire is more meaningful. There has been propaganda that the proposal was made by the Prime Minister, not the House. There has been an initiative to create exaggeration and confusion. If this process is prolonged, there will be an increase in frustration among the general public and there will be an increase in violence, so everyone is unanimous that we should reach the end as soon as possible," he said.
