There is a tug-of-war between the UML and the Rashtriya Swatantra Party over who will take over the Ministry of Home Affairs. When Pushpa Kamal Dahal was made Prime Minister with the support of UML on January 10, 2007, Ravi Lamichhane, Chairman of RSVP, was given the responsibility of Home Ministry along with Deputy Prime Minister.
Based on that, Lamichhane has taken the stand that his party should have the Ministry of Home Affairs with the Deputy Prime Minister. Lamichhane has expressed his desire to lead the party and lead the government by himself after getting the Ministry of Home Affairs with the Deputy Prime Minister. However, a leader said that his party wants to take over the Ministry of Home Affairs by showing the latest developments developed by UML. There is a strong possibility of making Varshman Pun, Deputy General Secretary of the Maoists as Finance Minister . According to
sources, Ravi Lamichhane, president of the National Independent Party, has maintained his position that he should get the Ministry of Home Affairs along with the Deputy Prime Minister. It has been decided to administer the oath to DP Aryal, the deputy chairman of the party from RSVP, due to the fact that it could not be decided in the Ministry of Home Affairs. The matter of his ministry has not been decided.
"The main tussle is between the UML and the RSWP, especially over who will take over the Ministry of Home Affairs," said a leader of the UML. A leader of RSVP indicated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has not been made a condition for participation in the government. "The main thing is more than the ministry Delivery of public services and amenities is key. Our party's conclusion is that even if you get a ministry, you can show it by doing good work,' said one of the leaders of the RSWP, 'The secretariat meeting has entrusted the party chairman to communicate about the distribution of ministries.'
