Leaders and activists of seven parties, including the Nepali Congress and the Maoists, are protesting in front of the Madhesh Bhavan, opposing the appointment of a Chief Minister in Madhesh.
After the then Chief Minister Jitendra Sonal resigned without seeking a vote of confidence, the Congress, Maoists, CPN-UML, LSP, Janamat, JSP and Nagarik Unmukti Party had demanded on Sunday to move forward the process of forming a government as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution.
But after Province Chief Sumitra Devi Bhandari appointed UML Parliamentary Party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav as the Chief Minister on Monday morning as per Article 168 (3) of the Constitution, the parties have come out in protest. After the news that the newly appointed Chief Minister Yadav will come to Madhesh Bhavan, representatives and MPs of seven parties are protesting in front of the gate to stop him. Leaders and cadres are also protesting by burning tires.
There is a heavy presence of security personnel here, while the number of leaders and cadres of seven parties is also increasing. Province Chief Bhandari appointed the Chief Minister at a hotel in Bardibas on Monday morning and administered the oath there. Soon after, Chief Minister Yadav expanded the Council of Ministers to include UML, RPP, and Federal Socialists.
