People of Lumbini Province are in favor of the provincial government: Chief Minister Acharya

Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that the people are in favor of the need for a provincial government. Speaking at a session titled "Is Federalism Just a Structure or a Convener?" organized in Kathmandu on Tuesday, he informed that the provincial government has instilled hope among the people.

‘The government structure of Lumbini Province was not burnt in the Gen-G movement. My house was burnt. Members of a political party burnt my house,’ he said, ‘The people of Lumbini Province are in favor of the province.’

Chief Minister Acharya said that the provincial government has served the citizens. ‘Lumbini Province has worked for good governance and reducing corruption. That is the agenda raised in the Gen-G movement. A code of conduct has been implemented for provincial ministers. We have worked in a transparent manner. We have adopted economic frugality. The Chief Minister and provincial ministers have cut facilities,’ he said.

He also informed that the Lumbini Provincial Government has arranged irrigation on 55 percent of the land in 12 months. ‘We have provided drinking water taps to 95 percent of the households. A 1,200-bed well-equipped hospital is under construction in Butwal,’ he added. ‘Revenue collection has increased. We have increased the revenue from 4 billion to 5.5 billion.’
