Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that the people have experienced development due to the work of the provincial government.
Speaking at the session titled Federalism: Just Structure or Also a Carrier at the Kantipur Conclave held in Ramjadhani on Tuesday, he claimed that the people are happy with the provincial government. ‘There is an attempt to create a narrative like ‘the province is not necessary by force, it has become a burden, it has become expensive,’ he said, ‘People have experienced development because of the province. People are happy with the provincial government.’
He said that the provincial government has changed the face of the village by making improvements in the education and health sectors from infrastructure construction. ‘Is spending Rs 5 out of Rs 100 burdensome or spending Rs 50 or 45 percent burdensome, we need to review it,’ said Chief Minister Acharya. He said that while the union spends Rs 50 and the local level spends Rs 45, the province spends only Rs 5.
He said that the Lumbini provincial government is engaged in the work of making laws. ‘We are making laws, but the lack of a federal law has hindered it. The forest act has not been able to work because the federal government has not amended it. The work has not been able to work because the civil service act has not been amended,’ he added, ‘The province should be able to make the provincial secretary. It has become difficult to work as the secretaries sent by the association are replaced every 2-4 months.'
