A controversy has arisen in Dhankuta during the process of selecting delegates for the 11th National Convention of the UML.
The Koshi Province Secretariat member Indramani Parajuli group has expressed dissatisfaction, saying that the central member Rajendra Rai faction, which had promised to select representatives by consensus, has started the voting process by forcing his close associates to withdraw their candidacies. The Parajuli group, holding a press conference in Dhankuta on Saturday morning, stated that it will completely reject the election process. UML Koshi Province Committee member Parajuli accused the central member Rai faction of pressuring most of his party's candidates to withdraw their nominations and misleading party members and voters in the voting process.
The press conference was attended by UML central member Shakuntala Basnet, leader Chandra Basnet, Niren Tamang, Manju Adhikari, Baldip Rai, Tara Titung and others.
The Rai faction, on the other hand, stated that the voting process was carried out as per the election schedule after a consensus could not be reached even after long efforts. Before the voting started, the Parajuli group had vandalized the UML district party office and the polling station designated in Kachide, Dhankuta-6.
