Hundreds of passengers who had planned their journey by looking at the content posted on social media saying that the Mechi highway has been opened are stranded on the road.

Even though the Mechi highway which was blocked due to the incessant rain on Saturday night is not fully operational, due to the incomplete and unconfirmed news published by social media and some online portals, the travelers who are walking from their places of residence are stranded. Especially among those who are stranded in this way are the pilgrims who are returning from visiting the Pathibhara Devi located in Taplejung, and some are returning to the work area after coming to the village to take tika on Dasain. 

Kamala Adhikari of Jhapa said that she was stuck due to unconfirmed information. "We were staying in a hotel in Taplejung headquarters when we found out that the road was closed while returning from the Pathibhara darshan," she said, "After social media users wrote that the Mechi highway was in operation, we planned a trip but could not reach the halfway point for two days."

According to him, there was a rumor that the Mechi highway was opened after the landslide was removed from Lalikhark and Ranke side of Panchthar, which was closed the previous day. Around 150 of those who had planned the journey in the midst of the noise have reached Rakhse of Ilam through the border range of Ilam Panchthar, and around 200 citizens have reached Puvakhola and got stuck .
