Nepali Congress candidate Tekraj Bhattarai has been elected unopposed as the head of District Coordination Committee Okhaldhunga.
In the nomination registration program held on Sunday under the local by-elections, Bhattarai was the only candidate for the head of the district coordination committee.
Congress has the sole majority in the district assembly, so other parties did not field their candidates. As a result, Bhattarai was elected unopposed.
Congress Central Office Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel has thanked other parties for helping Congress candidate Bhattarai to be elected unopposed.
Bhattarai is the former secretary of the party's district working committee and a convention representative. Earlier, Dilliram Khanal, who was the head of the District Coordination Committee, passed away on 13 Oct 080 during treatment due to cancer. Khanal was also elected from Congress.
In a district with eight local levels, the Congress has only 9 votes in the district assembly. CPN UML has 5 votes, Maobadi Center has 1 vote and Janata Samajbadi Party has 1 vote.
