Due to flood, 34 people have been detained in Sri Lanka Island located in Ward No. 6 and 9 of Barahkshetra Municipality of Sunsari. They were living on the beach island of Kosi in Barah Kshetra-6 Thakuriwari, raising buffaloes, and were stranded since Friday due to the Saptakosi flood.
According to Navinkrishna Bhandari, spokesperson of District Police Office Sunsari, 22 people are stranded in Barah Kshetra-6 and 12 people in Barah Kshetra-9 due to flood. He said that even though a large number of police were mobilized for their rescue since this morning, the rescue was not possible.
Chief District Officer of Sunsari Ramchandra Tiwari informed that their rescue is not possible immediately due to continuous rain.
