Human rights activists from Kalikot have demonstrated at Manma Bazaar demanding strict action against those involved in the murder of Inisha Bishwakarma of Surkhet.

Local youth including human rights activists led by Hatemalo Sahayata Foundation, Nepal Tarun Dal, and Mahila Manav Akira Rakshak Sanjaya submitted a memorandum to the district administration while demonstrating at Manma Bazaar.

A 16-year-old girl from Gurbhakot Badakholi, Surkhet, who was living in Birendranagar, was raped and murdered last Saturday. Human rights activist Katak Bishwakarma submitted a memorandum to Pradya Gorkanraj Suyal, expressing his complaint that the state did not listen to the heinous crimes committed against Dalit girls and adolescents, and warned that the Dalit community would not remain silent if criminals were acquitted on the basis of political protection and access. He also complained that the investigation into the rape and murder of 16-year-old Niru BK of Khadachakra-6, Kalikot, 4 years ago has been stalled without finding the culprit. He demanded that those involved in the murders of Inisha of Surkhet, Niru of Kalikot, Nirmala Pant of Kanchanpur, and Bhagarathi Bhatta of Baitadi should be taken to the fullest extent of the law. Submitting a separate memorandum against the murder of Inisha, Nepal Tarun Dal President Daman Shahi demanded strict action against the culprits.

Stating that violence against girls is increasing in the society, Human Rights Defenders Network President Nista Kumari Karki said that crime is increasing due to the tendency to give immunity to those involved in crimes under various pretexts. She also demanded that training on self-protection and self-defense be provided to teenage girls and daughters.
