Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that the next 5 years will be a year of good governance and progress. Addressing an election rally organized in Baglung, he said that the Congress will lead the country on the path of good governance and economic prosperity in the next 5 years. 

He said that the Congress has come up with a resolution and commitment through the manifesto for that. For this, the Congress is preparing to increase the pace of work and go to the elections with confidence, said President Thapa.

He said that the common people should be explained why the elections that were supposed to be held in 2084 were held so soon. ‘Gen-G youths were looking for good governance, and the Congress has changed to fulfill those demands,’ he said, ‘The Congress has also revised its statute and program.’ He said that the Congress has come to the elections by changing its leadership, relying on new methods. 

Saying that policies and principles, plans and vision are needed to build the country, Thapa said that the Congress has come to the elections with the conclusions of the studies conducted over the years for the improvement of all sectors. ‘We have made a lot of studies for agriculture, education, health, employment and prosperity,’ he said, ‘Congress leadership is also necessary to implement those plans.’ He pledged that the Congress leadership will draft dozens of laws in the upcoming parliament, incorporating the sentiments of the youth, and will also reform the state system. 

He said that starting with Sher Bahadur Deuba, he would investigate his own assets. ‘As the Congress President, I am saying that we will first investigate the assets of Congress leaders, clean up politics,’ he said, ‘We will investigate every scandal in accordance with the law and ensure that no scandal will be repeated in the future.’ He said that giving a bribe of even a rupee when going to get government services is an insult to the citizen. For that, he said that the law should be amended. He said that a list of 41 laws to be changed and amended has been prepared. 

He also said that he would respect all castes and regions. ‘During the constitution-making process, I worked to document the rights of all castes from the Himalayas, the hills and the Madhes,’ he said, ‘Parliament will be seen as the place where those laws are implemented.’ He also commented on the attempt to cut his speech and make it viral when he spoke in favor of indigenous peoples. Thapa, who came to the stage wearing Magar attire, also wished them on Magar Day.

At a program held at the Samikalaya in Baglung Bazaar in the district headquarters, he urged the cadres to go door-to-door to explain the party’s policies and programs. ‘Voters are still confused, go to their doorsteps and tell them about the changed Congress,’ he said, ‘We should not delay in explaining the blueprint for building a Congress with old pride and new plans.’
