The documentary 'Devi' directed by Suvina Shrestha has had its world premiere at the Hotdogs Canadian International Film Festival. This 80-minute long documentary was selected in the 'International Spectrum Documentary Competition' under North America's largest festival, Hot Docs.
Along with the world premiere, this documentary will also be shown on Wednesday. Ten years of civil war ended in 2006. However, another war started for the goddesses who suffered from rape during the conflict. The battle for justice.
The rebel warrior, mother and sexually abused goddess started the fight from there . Those in power tried to erase this issue of rape from history, but Devi raised her voice against it. This struggle and battle of goddesses is presented in the documentary.
This documentary is produced by UK and South Korea along with Nepal. The documentary has been prepared in Nepali and English subtitles. The documentary is co-produced by Rosie Garthwaite, Hijong O, Asmita Chaudhary Khadka and Suvina. The documentary is shot by Vishnu Kalpit.
