23 houses have been damaged due to flood in Khumbupasang Lhamu rural municipality-5 Thame of Solukhumbu. Local 55-year-old Nuru Tudu Sherpa is missing. The flood also destroyed the dam of the local hydropower project. Due to the collapse of the electricity dam, electricity and communication services have also been interrupted in that area.
According to the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs, 13 houses have been completely damaged and 10 houses have been partially damaged due to the floods in Thame. Physical structures of a school building, a health clinic and 2 hotels have also been completely damaged.
Khumbu Electricity Company's dam was damaged and electricity production was stopped, the authority said. 2 out of the 5 Himalayas located 9 km above Thame burst and flooded the Thame river (Bhotekhola) and the village was washed away . The flood of Thamekhola has also affected the coastal area of Dudhkosi river. According to the authority, the flood has washed away the goods of the old bailey bridge stored in Sotang Rural Municipality-1 Diplighat, while the traffic has stopped due to the flooding of one side of the steel truss bridge of Dudhkosi in Mapya Dudhkosi Rural Municipality-1 Andheri.
Chief District Officer of Solukhumbu, Devi Pande Khatri, said that although the risk of the lower coastal area where the lake has burst is less, the other two lakes are also risky, and the local administration, security agencies and local levels of Solu, Okhaldhunga and Khotang are working on coordinating measures to reduce the risk. ;.
