Stakeholders have emphasized on the development of tourism, service quality and marketing for domestic and foreign tourists. They say that tourists will be attracted only if people related to the tourism sector can provide good service.

In the second session of the 'Destination Gandaki' program organized by Kantipur Media Group in Pokhara on Wednesday, Dorje Lama, a tourism entrepreneur from Pokhara, claimed that the issue of service is bigger than taking money in the field of tourism.

'We should pay more attention to what not to do than what to do,' he said, 'money services and hospitality are now important in this sector.' He says that the trend of not taking responsibility for the shortcomings in hospitality services but blaming the government is fatal. "We should also be able to take responsibility from our own place for the mistakes that have happened," he said. He said that the government should also pay attention to train the skilled young people who are migrating every year in order to keep them in Nepal.

'Earthquake came, we went to Europe more, covid epidemic came, we went to Australia,' he said, 'sometimes it seems like we were born only to make a foreign country.' He says that there is a change in tourism limited to trekking only.

'Due to the accessibility of road infrastructure, the aspect of tourism is also changing, earlier tourism was only in trekking, less tourists used to come,' she said, 'now only buses come, tourists also come by bike and bicycle, and trekkers have not stopped coming.' According to Gurung, Manang and Mustang in the Himalayan district are now coming from group tourism to pilgrims. She told that

hotel industry is giving space to all the guests, whether they are domestic or foreign tourists. "There is no such thing as not giving money to foreigners, giving to Nepalis or not giving to foreigners," she said, "Online booking is always open for that." According to Gurung, it should be classified as medium and cheap. "It would be better if we could charge according to the service, classified as expensive, good and cheap," she said. He says that quality services should be provided according to the needs of tourists and money should be taken accordingly. Gurung said that they are focusing on quality food and serving accordingly.

Raju Karki, president of The Cliff Baglung, said that diversity in services is necessary to attract tourists. "The service we provide should be different, not that we should take a lot of money at once, but we should be able to provide good service," he said. He complained that he did not get any support from the government during the break project. "We provide service from 500 rupees, the person who comes to take the service spends 50 to 60 thousand rupees a day," he said, "so service is important, we have to create an environment that entertains the tourists, which needs variety."

Karki said that the cliff was built with the assumption that 60 percent foreign and 40 percent domestic tourists would come. He said that the problem of covid occurred when the service was started after the construction was completed. He says that 30 percent of foreign tourists are coming now and the traffic of such tourists will gradually increase.

Prateekraj Pahari, managing director of Hotel Sarovar, Pokhara, said that it was not possible to sell tourism stories to tourists other than the story of climbing the mountains. He said that if everything is clear about the branding of tourism in Nepal, there is a possibility that businessmen can do branding. "Indian actors, actresses and producers have a hand in making Switzerland famous, we can do the same for tourism branding," he said.

Pahari emphasized that Nepal should be able to spread the 'story' that it is worth visiting from the point of view of security. "Guests coming from outside ask how is the road, how is the air service, but when there is a problem with the air service to Pokhara and the road becomes unstable, the tourists are diverted elsewhere," he said. We lost, because of the road, they made the destination elsewhere.'' (If someone wants to see the mountains and get married, Pokhara is a suitable destination, he said.
