”Taking money is not important, giving service is important”

Dorje Lama, a tourism businessman from Pokhara, said that in the field of tourism, giving service is more important than taking money.

Speaking on the second session of the Destination Gandaki program organized by Kantipur Media Group on Wednesday, Adventure Travel, Dream Destination, he said that wherever he goes in Nepal is good, he said that the hotel business should provide service accordingly.

'We should be more careful about what not to do than what to do, I sold food for 34 years, taking money is not important, but providing service is important,' he said, 'We are not institutionalized, we have weaknesses. We do not take responsibility. We blame the government, we have to take responsibility from our own place for the mistakes we have made.''

He said that because most of the people tend to earn money faster than to provide services, there are problems in the field of hotel business.

'Our competition is not in Nepal, it is outside of Nepal,' he said, 'Young people are leaving again, if we could train young people related to different fields, this could be sustained, because of which skilled manpower would be consumed in Nepal.'
