South Africa took 30 years to implement federalism, Nepal has found its destination in 5/6 years: Former Chief Minister Adhikari

Former Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Khagraj Adhikari has said that Nepal has achieved important achievements in a short period of time under the federal government system. Speaking in the third session of the 'Gantavya Gandaki' program organized by Kantipur Media Group on Wednesday, the official claimed that it took 30 years for South Africa to get used to federalism, but Nepal found its destination in 5/6 years.

"In South Africa led by Nelson Mandela, it took 30 years to get used to the extent of the authority of the local, provincial and central levels," said the official, "We have already discovered some destinations within 5/6 years."

federalism He said that a clear separation and coordination of authority between the local, provincial and federal levels is necessary. "When health authority was given to the local level, Pakistan returned it to the center after 12 years," he said. He discussed the efforts made in the fields of education, health and employment after the promulgation of the constitution.

Former Chief Minister Adhikari emphasized that healthcare is a sensitive sector and transparency and meritocracy should be prioritized. "We can build a sustainable health system only by paying attention to the production of skilled manpower in the health sector, the system of using them and the management of equipment and infrastructure," he said.

The official said that the production of manpower was taken into consideration while creating the Pokhara Health Science Academy Act. "Now there is a demand in the international market for our IT and LLB educated manpower," he said, "manpower who have studied hotel management from Pokhara University have reached Singapore and Hong Kong, and no one is unemployed." He pointed out that there is a possibility that the students will be able to stay in Nepal even if they have to give a 'no objection letter'. "Due to the progress of AI, our students who have gone abroad now may have to relocate and return home after 5 to 5 years," he said.

Instead of encouraging the youth to go abroad, he was of the opinion that education should be given in new subjects such as AI and mining to keep them here.

Finally, the official said that a new approach is needed to bring back the Nepalese manpower who has gone abroad and utilize their skills .

'If we adopt a transparent policy based on meritocracy, we can move forward towards sustainable development,' he said. It's not right .'
