The third international investment conference to be organized by the government to bring domestic and foreign investment into the country is starting on Sunday. At the conference, 150 projects from the local, provincial, union and private sectors are prepared to be presented. There are 119 projects of union, state and local level and 31 projects of private sector. The 58th meeting of the investment board on Tuesday approved the list of 148 government and private projects that will be called for letters of intent, solicited and market sounding. More than 2,400 people have been invited, but more than 1,600 participants have been confirmed, according to Investment Board spokesperson Upadhyay. Maximum participation of 385 domestic investors has been confirmed. 265 from China, 143 from India, 33 from the United States, 28 from Japan, 14 from the UK, 13 from Bangladesh, 13 from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and 10 from Germany are participating. According to the investment board, nine people from South Korea, Australia and Malaysia are going to participate in the conference.
There will be eight participants from Pakistan, six from Singapore, five/five from Qatar and Ghana, four/four from Saudi Arabia, France and Bahrain. There will be 23 stalls in the conference and letters of intent will be invited for 20 projects. 9 for market sounding, 31 projects of identification stage will be socked, 18 for financial management, 14 for private sector investment, 27 for socus and 31 private sector projects will be socked. Various ministries and agencies of the government had previously sent recommendations to the Ministry of Law to amend various provisions of the 8 Acts. After further study and consultation, the Ministry of Law concluded that 10 Acts should be amended and prepared an ordinance and submitted it to the Council of Ministers on Monday. After President Ramchandra Paudel issues an ordinance in accordance with the recommendations of the Council of Ministers, the arrangements made there will immediately come into force as laws. Finance Minister Pun said that the Ordinance will be validated before the start of the investment conference.
