The Congress majority government formed after the 2046 change gave priority to liberalization. In the two years since the formation of the Girija Prasad Koirala-led government in 2048, the economic index was positive.

It was not what the government thought. In the 8 months of the financial year 2049/050, issues such as improvement in price situation, expansion in exports, increase in foreign exchange reserves were seen positively. Expansion in monetary liquidity and growing government budget deficit were found to be unfavorable. 

Rastra Bank had released a statement and analyzed the pressure on the price increase by the economic indicators . During this period, foreign trade increased by 15.9 percent to 33.95 billion. In particular, the encouraging growth in overseas export trade was a positive indicator in foreign trade. 

Foreign trade increased by 6.6 percent during this period due to the relaxation in import trade and the increase in exports. It was viewed positively at the time. The country's current account deficit decreased from 3.8 billion in the five months of the previous year to only 1.39 billion in the same period this year. Exchange reserves increased by 33.3 percent to 30.27 billion by March 20 compared to June 2049. The net internal assets of the banking system increased by 8.2 percent in the first 8 months of last year and increased by 15.4 percent during the same period this year. Based on cash flow, the government's total expenditure has increased by 37.9 percent compared to the same period last year. Due to an increase of only 24.4 percent towards means, the budget deficit increased by 86 percent and reached 430.33 percent. Foreign loans of 249.28 crores have been used to cover this deficit, while the remaining 189.05 crores have been covered by domestic loans.
