”Books are the easiest way to understand a lot”

Narrator Vivek Ojha is the author of the recently popular novel 'Ainthan'. 'Ainthan' also received the Madan Award of 079. 'Ainthan' is a story of the time of armed conflict. Before the convulsions of Ojha, the novel 'Ailani' and the collection of ghazals 'Ek Paila Aakashma' were published.

Currently, Ojha is preparing for a collection of stories. Narrator Ojha's conversation for column five questions of Ekantipur :

How did you get used to reading books? Why is this important?

Father was a teacher . He taught me to read before I knew the alphabet. At that time, I was attracted by the colors and songs of the books . The color of the book of that time still dances in my mind . Dai preferred to read other books . I started following Paneel Dai . When I was studying in class 5, I used to read stories from class 10. At that time there was no flow of literature like it is now. Without searching in Tikapur, why not, there was no literary book in hand . At that time I used to read academic course stories . As he studied in a private school, he had a separate English book of stories. It was a common understanding that one should read in order to write. That later turned into a habit .

Why is it important to climb mountains? Why is rafting important? Why is it important to travel? Why is it important to watch the movie? Let's break it down. And why is it important to read? It is a matter of human interest . I think books are the easiest way to understand many things. If someone takes 10 years to write, there is his years of hard work . That same thing he can read and understand in five days .

There is immense knowledge in the world for hundreds of years . Which has been recorded in the book . The easiest way to understand that is the book .  How does the habit of reading

affect personal and social life? The habit of reading

makes a person socially responsible. Even in the film world, the one who has studied a lot becomes adept . That he will understand based on experience . It will take a long time for that. That is to listen to a person who has passed away. That is also a kind of study . Look in all areas . He who has read, he will be genuine . The fastest, easiest and most reliable way to gain knowledge is study.

What is the most influential book in your life?

Many books have influenced my life from time to time. What I was most impressed with while reading Plus Two was the stories in the Magic of Words course book. Because there are different stories in it. They look magical. But they are magical overall. After that, I was first impressed in Nepali literature by Amar Neupane's story collection Pari Gham  . I felt that such nonsense is also written in Nepali literature. Recently VS Naypal's House for Mr. Vishwas has had the most impact . The character represents the colonial society . The character has to stay at home. His struggle to get out of there and make a home is very interesting . If ever a book kept me up at night, this is the only book.

How to maintain the habit of reading books in the digital age ? I don't think

is different from digital age books. We should pay attention to how the contents of books can be digitized . Because the current style of the world should be carried by the author, the revelations . Records may have been kept on copper at some point. May have been placed on the skin at some point. Inscriptions were also placed on the stone . Even before paper was invented, people kept things. Letters were made even before the page was made. If the digital thing is a challenge, the book should also be digitized . I don't believe that people go beyond books . People want to find something. Since history, people's thinking about discovery is still there . Must know to find . Must read to know . For that, the content of the book should be digitized .

What books do you recommend for the new generation to read?

There are many books in Nepali Water Sun, Hans, Mokshant: Kathmandu Fever, Son of Guerrilla, Seto Dharti, Karnali Blues, Lu . English House for Mr. Biswas, The Good Earth, Kafka on the Shore, Hundred Years of Solitude etc.
