'I am buying and driving a car on installments'

Since there are already many autos in the Gulariya market, there is not much income. As the funfoni autos ply in the market all day long, they meet occasional passengers. They earn 5-6 hundred rupees a day.

I don't have enough money to sit and eat. Since I don't have enough money, I have to work to make ends meet. I have to do some kind of education to fill my stomach. I have been working hard since I was a child. No matter how hard the work is, I don't hesitate to work. I have grown old while working. I have a house in Sirkohiya village, Gularia Municipality-3. I am now 52 years old. I still earn my living by driving an auto.

My younger son is working as a laborer in India. My elder son works as a laborer in Gulariya. We are managing our household expenses by combining their earnings with mine. I used to work for a good wage. Now, as I am getting older, I am not as energetic as before. That's why I can't work as hard as before. But, what can I do? It is not enough to eat at home. Nowadays, it is expensive. It is difficult for one person to work and support the family. My son also works as a wage laborer. By driving an auto, it has become easier for them to meet their family expenses. Due to my poverty, my children could not study earlier. My child stopped studying after completing three or four classes.

A license is also required to drive an electric auto. If you are caught by the traffic police without a license, you have to pay a fine more than you earned. Since there is no transport office here, you have to go to Nepalgunj to get a license. I did not dare to get a license because I was afraid that it would cost more to go there. When the traffic police started giving me a lot of trouble for the license, we went to Gulariya Municipality in protest yesterday, demanding facilitation to get a license. Mayor Sap has promised to facilitate the process, considering the problems of auto drivers.

Gulariya Municipality has made arrangements to register autos in the municipality and fill out a free online form for licenses. There is hope that licenses will be issued after they said that they will also pay the revenue for licenses. Registration is being done free of charge in the municipality since yesterday. Similarly, filling out the form for licenses has also started. However, the bill of auto purchase is required to register in the city.

Since the auto was taken out in installments, the loan is still to be paid. The showroom has not given the bill until the full installment is paid. There is not much income. There are already many autos in Gulariya market, so there is not much income. When you drive fun autos in the market all day long, you will find occasional passengers. You earn 5/6 hundred a day. You have to make a living with the money you earn every day. I am also paying auto installments without eating. I am saving 10/15 thousand and paying the monthly installment of the car.

There are still about 4/5 installments to be paid. The youngest son is not married. He is currently working in India. The eldest son works in Gularia. Due to this, the household expenses are running smoothly. We are a family of 6 including the eldest son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. Since we have little land, we do not have enough to eat throughout the year. When charging the car, we have to pay a monthly electricity bill of 2,000 to 2,500. Similarly, we have to buy all the things including pulses, rice, vegetables. To register the car in the city, we need a bill of purchase and the showroom will not give the bill until the full amount is paid, which is stressful.
