The iron is like my world. I use the iron to make various materials. I have started making modern tools like hoe, khukuri, sickle, axe, and spade. The income is also good according to the hardship. I earn an average of seven to eight thousand rupees a month by working all day.
This usually covers the household expenses. There are four people in the family, my wife, children and I. We do not have much desire to feed and clothe us. After living in the village, I am spending my days according to the village environment.
My house is in Hile Harle, Malika Rural Municipality-5, Chapahile. I am now 29 years old. I studied there till 6th grade. Then I stopped my studies because I went to India to earn money with my brothers. I returned to the village after living in India for a year. After that, I am satisfied with the work in the village. Our ancestral profession was aran.
After my grandparents' traditional farming system did not provide enough food for twelve months, I converted it into a wage job. I am satisfied with the wages I get now. Since the traditional farming system practiced by my parents and grandparents was not enough to eat for twelve months, I converted it into a wage earner. I am satisfied with the salary I get now. For seven years, my main profession has not been only aran, I also work with wood. Along with this, I also know cement-related work. I do windows, doors, cement plaster, all kinds of woodwork, roofing and other work.
I earn a daily wage of one thousand rupees from this work. In this way, I earn 17/18 thousand rupees monthly. If the household expenses are met from the work, the remaining amount is saved. It is not always a matter of saving. It is easy when there is a big expense here and there.
I have gradually made my work easier and more modern. Now I have an electric welding machine, an electric stove and a wood-cutting saw. This further improves my skills. I have also made the work faster and easier. I am making a living. You don't have to think about anything else to earn a living. After learning a skill, you don't have to worry about earning a normal income.
The main thing is the skill. If you don't have the skill, it will be very difficult to earn a living. I have the skill of aran work. Which I learned from my father. It has benefited me forever. It has been four years since I converted it from a gardener to a wage earner.
It has also helped me in earning a living. Even with a little effort in the morning and evening, you can make ends meet. Apart from that, the skill of woodworking has helped me. There is no youth in the village who does not have the skill.
Some have gone to India and other countries for employment. I never thought of going abroad for a normal income. The skill I have has helped me and my family.
What do I know to tell others! But, in my experience, it seems that skill is a big thing . Wherever you go to earn, you have to learn skills . So that you don't have to suffer wherever you go . For those who are very greedy, it may not be enough to just stay in the village! But, for those who say that they earn a normal living, live in the village, they will learn normal skills .
