I earn around four or five hundred rupees a day by selling vegetables. I also receive social security allowance. By doing all this, I am helping my son with household expenses.
What you should know
Even though she is old, she has not been able to feel happiness and peace. Who does not want to live happily at this age? However, it is not the destiny of everyone to sit and eat comfortably in old age. Everyone wants to sit and eat comfortably in old age, eat what they want, and visit pilgrimage sites, but all of that has to be written down.
Even though old age surrounds a poor family like ours, responsibility does not leave it. While fulfilling the role of responsibility, I have not been able to feel it. I am 75 years old. I have a house in Mainapokhar, Badhaiyatal Rural Municipality-6. I have been doing hard work and daily work since the beginning. I have become accustomed to doing the same thing. Nowadays, if I sit idle for a day without working, I feel like I have lost my job.
I am still agile because of the sweat I have shed since childhood and I am energetic to work even at this age. Even though I cannot carry heavy loads and do very difficult work, my courage to feed myself has not yet broken.
I am still agile due to the sweat I have shed since I was young and I am eager to work even at this age. It has been 20 years since I have been sitting on the roadside of Mainapokhar Bazaar and selling green vegetables. The traders of Mainapokhar Bazaar know me well. I also sell the produce of my own garden. I also buy seasonal vegetables that I don't have in my garden from other places and sell them. Currently, I sell vegetables such as cauliflower, turnips, carrots, beans, onions and others on the roadside of Mainapokhar Bazaar.
It is very cold these days. There is a thick fog in the morning. It is difficult to get up early in the morning. But, I get up early in the morning. Sometimes I take a public vehicle to buy vegetables towards Gularia and sometimes I buy vegetables from Nepalgunj Rani Talau and bring them back. After buying vegetables, I eat at home and sit on the roadside of Mainapokhar Bazaar to sell them. I sell vegetables in the market until evening.
I have two sons and a daughter. All of them are married. The eldest son lives separately. I am with the youngest son. We have a family of five including me, my son, my daughter-in-law, and my grandchildren. My husband, who supported me in good times and bad, passed away 6 years ago.
When the youngest son is at home, he helps in the vegetable garden. He also works as a house builder. He also does not always get work. Nowadays, it is very expensive. It is difficult for one person to earn and meet the household expenses. My son does not seek my income. Even if my son does not ask, I have been helping him with the household expenses a little. This has made it easier for my son to meet his household expenses.
I earn about four or five hundred rupees a day by selling vegetables. I also receive social security allowance. After doing all this, I am saving my son for household expenses. I keep the rest of the money I earn with me. Sometimes when I am sick, I take medicine for treatment. I am raising my expenses by selling vegetables. Due to which my son has not had to spend on my medicine. Even in my old age, I have not had to extend my hand to anyone. I pray to God that I will not have to extend my hand to anyone in the coming days.
