'Build a two-story house while carrying heavy loads'

After tractors, jeeps, and buses started running, I stopped getting work. Then I came to Tansen. It has been 37 years since I came here. Although I am now 70 years old. But I still have not stopped carrying the burden.

I have built a two-story house near Kajipau, Tansen Municipality-7. I had taken a loan for 43 thousand. I have gradually built a two-story house by borrowing money. But the house was not built that easily. It has been 47 years since I started carrying heavy loads daily. My house was built with the money I saved while carrying those heavy loads.

For about 10 years, I carried heavy loads from Aryabhanjyang on the Siddhartha Highway to Rampur, Bankamlang, and Gandakot. It has been about 37 years since I started living in Tansen. I have lived in a rented house for many years.

I used to love carrying heavy loads in Lahure. I would give them clothes. I would also give them delicious food. I would give them up to 90 rupees for carrying heavy loads. After tractors, jeeps, and buses started running, I stopped getting work. Then I came to Tansen. It has been 37 years since I came here. Although I am now 70 years old. But I still have not stopped carrying heavy loads.

I used to deliver gas to every house. I carry goods from the shop to my house. I carry refrigerators, washing machines, steel drawers, rice, and wooden materials to all the villages in Tansen. Sometimes the earnings are good, but not always. I get 30 rupees for carrying gas. If I have to carry large items, I get 300 rupees. Some people give 100/200 rupees more because an old man brought them.

My birthplace is Baichhap, Siluwa, Purvakhola Rural Municipality-1, Palpa. I left home from a young age to do something. When my friends went to India, I got a job carrying loads for the Lahure in Aryabhanjyang. They started giving me cash. While carrying the loads, I would reach the village listening to the song of the ‘tape recorder’ that the Lahure brought. Since I could give money, get delicious food, and have cash in hand, I started enjoying it here. The days passed very happily as I walked with Lahure for about 10 years and reached the villages. After

Now I am 70 years old. But I still haven't stopped carrying heavy loads.
, when I came to Tansen, I carried heavy loads at the bus park. Later, I started going to drop off things from shops. After many years, I bought a ghaderi for 43 thousand. It has been 27 years since my wife passed away. I have two sons. I could not educate both of them. The eldest, Sher Bahadur, did not study much either. The younger, Bal Bahadur, studied 5th grade. I told him to study, but he did not study. Both sons work as drivers. The daughters-in-law are also with him. They have grandchildren. Now the expenses have increased. I earn 300 to 2000 daily. But still, it is difficult to meet the household expenses.

It's difficult to find heavy lifting jobs like before. Earlier, there was a lot of work. Now there is very little work. The crowding of people has reduced. There used to be 10/15 porters in the bus park. But I had separate customers. They would call me and put me to work. I would earn accordingly. Pulses, rice, vegetables, and clothes have become very expensive. No government helps poor families like us. I have heard that there are three governments, but I don't know politics. Political parties don't do anything for people like me. Why do they do politics? I don't know anything. No government has been able to control inflation.

I used to take a sack of rice home for 150 rupees. Now they give me a sack of 25/30 kg for 2 thousand rupees. Rice doesn't come in sacks like before. The price increase here in Nepal is not due to paddy, maize, millet. Earlier, all villages used to have maize, paddy, millet, fenugreek, and mustard. Some time ago, when I went to Siluwa village, I saw all the fields barren. There was nothing to do except buy and eat. They have built motorable roads in the villages. But they have eaten noodles. There is no crop in the villages. The price is also increasing. We don't meet any of our friends. Maybe because of the increase in price - it seems like people have stopped talking about happiness and sorrow. In any case, the government should be for the people. The people vote for them and send them to win, not by increasing the price. We need a system where the poor can also live.
