'You can earn a lot by learning skills and working in the country'

Now I am happy. On the one hand, I am studying, and on the other hand, I am earning money by cutting hair. This has not only saved me from studying, but sometimes I am also sending money to my family from here.

'You can earn a lot by learning skills and working in the country'

What you should know

My grandparents also cut hair and spent their lives cutting hair. My father, Bisambar, still cuts hair. I have also adopted the same profession after learning the skill from my father. When I was 13 years old, I was studying in grade 7. From that time on, I started learning to cut hair from my father. So my father is my teacher. After working with my father for about a year, I became an expert.

While cutting my hair, I passed SEE with a GPA of 3.50 from Shri Malabardevi Secondary School in Gaudhawa Rural Municipality-1.

I also passed class 12 from Haraiya Secondary School in the village. Then I enrolled in Bhairahawa Multiple Campus to study for my bachelor's degree. I am currently studying in my second year in the Faculty of Management. After coming to Bhairahawa, I also thought of going to South Korea for foreign employment. For that, I took a Korean language class for 6 months. I dropped the language class after not having enough time to learn the language while continuing my studies.

I first thought of going abroad. But, later I planned to study while working here. Although I am skilled in cutting other people's hair, I have not cut my own hair for 9 months. My busyness has increased since I started a salon.

I am currently running Pradeep Hair Dresser and Jeans Parlor in Siddharthnagar-12, Shantinagar. Before opening a salon with my own investment, I used to work in my uncle's shop. While working there, I used to get 60 percent of the wages for cutting hair. The remaining 40 percent went to my uncle.

I have experienced that if I learn a skill and do something in the country, I can earn any amount. Now I am earning from 1500 to 2500 per day.

I have experienced that if I learn a skill and do something in the country, I can earn any amount. Now I am earning from 1500 to 2500 per day.

My monthly rent is 12 thousand rupees. Even though I live in Bhairahawa, I bring rice, lentils and utensils from home and cook and eat by myself. In a small room, there is only a pillow and a sheet on the bed. I cover the bed with a hammock. Most of the time is spent in the shop. Customers are never free. There is no time to roam. I have to travel 25 kilometers from home to Bhairahawa campus. That is why I am studying while earning money in Bhairahawa.

Now I am happy. On the one hand, I am studying, and on the other hand, I am also earning money by cutting hair. This has not only saved me from studying, sometimes I am also sending household expenses to my family from here.

My father Bisambar also learned the skill from his grandfather. My grandfather's skill has reached me through my father. My father is happy to see me making good use of this skill. I have understood that no job is small.

After the increase in customers, my elder father's son Ashant is also working in my salon. My brother came to Bhairahawa after passing grade 12. I also pay my brother half of his earnings for working with me. We charge Rs 150 for cutting a person's hair and beard.

I did not have much trouble coming to the city to take up this profession. But, my father had to suffer a lot. At first, my father could not open a shop and cut hair. My father used to go to villages, squares and houses to cut hair. At that time, he got Rs 30 for cutting a person's hair. My father used to earn around Rs 300 by cutting hair all day.

My father used to wonder how long he could make a living by cutting hair. After thinking a lot, my father started cutting hair from a small tanki (wooden cart) in the village. My father, who was previously known as Duluwa in the village, has become a shopkeeper.

My father has made the shop attractive . Since farming alone is not enough, my father has cut his hair to meet the necessary expenses for his mother, two sisters and two brothers and himself . My father has been working in the village to meet the expenses . When the household expenses are not enough, I have started earning from here and sending money .
