When I left my job, I had 900,000 rupees. With that, I bought a 2-room house on public land. We are currently living in that house.

It was customary for many people from the Magar community to join the army. So I decided to join too. I didn't get to study much. I didn't go to school after studying up to the 5th grade. I was recruited the first time. After that, my working life in the Nepali Army began. If someone asks me what I did in life, I say, 'I served the country and the people for a long time.' I retired from the Nepali Army on Chaitra 15, 2074.
After retirement, I returned to the village. My family consists of a wife, 2 daughters and 1 son. My eldest daughter passed 10th grade from Sainik School in Surkhet. She then went to Kathmandu to study 11th grade. She is studying science with her sister-in-law. My other daughter is studying in class 5. My son is studying in class 1. I have admitted them to a private school so that they can study well. They are also studying well.
After returning home after completing my working life, instead of working hard, I became addicted to drinking and gambling. I also suffered a lot due to my addiction. One day, I felt that life would not be happy this way. The pension from my job was not enough to cover the expenses of the family and the education of my children. On top of that, I suffered a lot when I started spending a lot on myself. When I felt that this would not work out, I took out a loan from my pension. I made my wife a member of the Siddhartha Cooperative in the community. I took a loan of 3 lakhs from the cooperative and 5 lakhs from the bank and started a food shop. My wife started looking after the shop.
I bought a car for myself. But the shop did not run well. The loan was too much and it became a mess. In the meantime, my wife fell ill. She had a problem with her uterus. I took her to Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital and had her uterus operated. The shop was built. Now she is resting at home. I drive a car. I sold the car I bought earlier and bought a new one for 4.5 lakhs. It has been 6 and a half years since I started driving a car.
In between, I also worked part-time for some time. Now I am driving an auto. That is enough to pay the loan installments. I also worked part-time for some time. Now the car is running well. I am struggling from morning to evening and it is enough to pay the loan installments. This has also helped me to meet my household expenses. Monthly pension of 16 thousand. That covers the education expenses of my children. Opening a shop, buying a car and treating my wife has taken a loan of about 12 lakhs.
When I left my job, I had 9 lakh rupees. With that, I bought a 2-room house on public land. We have been living in that. My eldest daughter has education expenses in Kathmandu. My other daughter has monthly expenses of 33 hundred. My son has expenses of about 25 hundred. Rice, lentils, vegetables, milk, fish, meat, fruits, gas, all the kitchen expenses add up to 11 to 12 thousand more per month. My wife is sick. Sometimes my daughter and I also get sick. In this way, I spend what I earn. I have turned 42 on Bhadra 16.
I am getting older. After paying off the loan and my daughter has studied and got a job, I want to stop driving and relax. I paid 4 installments for the car. I pay 10,870 monthly installments. As I get older, it is time to relax, but I am working for household expenses. It has become easier for me to drive an auto after getting a license. We, ordinary family members, have to suffer for our entire life for household expenses. If it were not for the education of our children and loans, my pension would have been enough for us, but now that I am financially weak, my pension alone is not enough. That is why I have not stopped working even though I am getting older.
