”After running a photo studio, I don't have to mow the grass”

What you should know

Many mouths to feed at home, little family income. My father and brother had to go to India for work to run the house. I have a family of 10 including my parents, siblings, cousins, and myself. Farm produce is enough to eat for five months. The rest of the time you have to buy food. Brothers and sisters had to be taught. The father has the burden of raising and educating the family. It is difficult to get a copy pen, bag, dress to read.

Jenten I passed 12th from Faculty of Law . I used to walk 3 hours daily to reach Kalashilla Mavi in the neighboring town of Raskot to study plus two. After passing 12, I wanted to go outside the district for higher education, but I stayed in the village due to lack of income.

I stayed at home for two years without being able to study higher education due to the poor financial condition of the family. While staying at home, I was busy with mowing the buffaloes and taking care of the house. Two years ago, a photo studio training opportunity opened for underprivileged young women in the village took a new turn in my life .

In February 2008, I was selected for youth self-employment entrepreneurship training under the strong girls project conducted in partnership with Planner Kirdak Nepal in Sannitriveni Rural Municipality. The goal of the training is to inspire unemployed youth like me to become independent by teaching them skills and also prevent child marriage. In my village, I had to go to the headquarters of Manm or the neighboring Raskot Municipality to take photos, so I thought that the business would work . I chose that . Took training in Mehelmudi . During the three-month residential training, I also learned how to account for income and expenses along with computer and photo studio skills.

After taking 390 hours of training from May to June 2081, I started a photo studio at my home from July. After teaching the skills in the training, the organizing organization has given 71 thousand 900 materials including computer, printer, ink, print paper. I have run a studio in my own house near the ward office. No camera to take

photos . When printing a photo taken from a mobile phone from a computer, I charge 20 rupees per copy . 2 to 300 rupees are earned daily by sitting at home . Student enrollment in May, social security update in June and good income. From this income, they have been able to cover household expenses and buy the things they need.

Those who gave me marriage advice when I was unemployed now give me advice after becoming a businessman . Since there is no income, everyone will be hungry. Now there is no pressure of marriage. In my village, there is still a custom of getting married at a young age. With the slogan and propaganda of 'Bihebari 20 Varshpari', the custom of janti, bazagaza, and bhojbhater has disappeared when getting married, but the custom of living together with the agreement of the parents has increased. They complain about child marriage only if the caste and the economic status of the family do not match, otherwise you keep quiet. That is why child marriage has not decreased in the village.

In my understanding, lack of opportunity for higher education, taking a daughter as a burden and poverty leads to child marriage. All my friends in the village are married. It is not that I was not pressured to get married. I didn't get married thinking that if you stand on your own feet before marriage, you won't get hurt . I have reminded others that if they get married before they are 20 years old, they will suffer. That's why last year the ward office honored me in the Prohibition of Child Marriage Proclamation meeting.

To raise my voice against all kinds of violence and discrimination in the society, I still want to become a teacher even though I have passed 12th in law. To complete that, I am currently studying in the 12th grade in Dafe Mavi Mumra in the Faculty of Education, from where I did my SE . I have also provided service to those who come to take photos at home. After passing 12th in law, he could not go for higher education due to lack of income. When he was unemployed and living at home, the matter of marriage came up . I started towards entrepreneurship with the determination to get married only if I could stand on my own feet. Now I am known as an activist against child marriage in the village.

Locals of Sannitriveni-7 Curie are happy after getting the facility to take photos in the village. Had to spend money first and go away . The photo studio that I operate in Curie village has the facility to take photos required for citizenship recommendation, children's birth certificate, marriage certificate, maintenance allowance and enrollment of children in school .

I sell 4/5 for one hundred rupees to villagers who spend 3000 to come to Manm to take photos. A facility for the villagers and a source of income for me. All happy .

My photo studio has also made it easy to add photos to school and update emis . When there is a photo studio in the village, all the children in the ward are now registered within 35 days. I am happy that the photo studio helped the family to run the household expenses. Earning is not the main thing, sometimes more, sometimes less . I have received the respect of an entrepreneur, I am happy about that.
