After planting corn, I left the house with sarangi. Both corn farming and sarangi are important to me. When it started raining slowly, I had to go back home.

Dang lives in Ghorahi sub-metropolis-12. Now I am 33 years old. It has been 20 years since the sarangi started playing in the village.

I was only 13 years old when I was walking behind my father with a sarangi. After understanding a little, I walked with my friends. In the beginning our group was . Gradually, some friends went abroad. One rule of thumb is that you can visit Nepal. I got to visit many districts while traveling, singing and providing entertainment.

Swinging around with a fiddle is our ancestral profession . During fairs/festivals, our generation used to present the news and sorrows of the society through songs. Like the media, we used to convey news through songs about various accidents, crimes and malpractices. Now is not the old time . Now the time has come to sing a song according to the settlement. Now they are more happy to sing in a rap style . I also look at the society and sometimes I sing folk songs and sometimes I sing bhajans. 

I sing only by asking listeners and viewers about political party leaders and their activities. Some happily give cash, rice and vegetables . Some give only grain . Since I am a professional singer, I sing according to the interests and wishes of the people of the place where I live. After enrolling in school, I studied up to 5th standard . I stopped going to school after knowing the alphabet. 

When I get free, I will walk from home carrying sarangi . Sometimes one thousand and sometimes two thousand are earned by working all day . They give cash in the market. There is usually a lot of grain in the village. I accept whatever they give. It is not possible to ask again to give this and give that. Earnings up to three thousand on busy days in the market. 

If I can sleep for a whole month, I will earn 30,000 to 80,000 by doing food and cash. I stay at the hotel and eat when I go out . I have saved 40/50 thousand per month by cutting all the expenses . Earnings will come after hard work . Earnings are good for children, family and house to pay the debt. I am very happy to be able to educate my children in a good school . I have renovated the old house in the village with the earnings and have also built a 4-room concrete house . A son, a daughter and a wife have easily met their minimum needs. 

I have visited 75 districts of the country during two decades. Many settlements cannot be reached in the Himalayan region. I have only sung songs sitting in the headquarters of such districts. I have reached the markets and rural areas of Terai and Pahari districts. Wherever I go, I prepare songs according to the environment and recite them . It is my belief that if you have skills and knowledge, you don't need to be a slave in other countries.

My son will/will not do this job - I can't say yet . However, if this profession can be done in a modern way, I don't think that there should be migration abroad. We three brothers are happy in this profession . I have tried to keep my family happy even though I am traveling from village to village. Now the only wish is that the children should study well and be known by their name .
