He still hasn't taken a break from sewing shoes-sandals, which he started 20 years ago to make two clothes for his wife and sons. I can't leave work even if I am over 70 years old. Because, this is what burns the hearth of the house. I have been able to keep my grandchildren happy by collecting two or four money from this.
There is a house in Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-3 Gidhkhora Toll of Saptari. After turning 50, I started sewing shoes and sandals. In the beginning, I used to sew up torn soles, fix broken heels, polish shoes, replace soles and inner soles.
Before that, I used to work as a wage laborer in the farm and run the daily life of the family. After being born in a poor family, I was never afraid of hard work . It was always in my mind that a hungry stomach was waiting for children at home . Even though he was running a family of seven by working as a wage worker, he was not very sad. However, I never got wages as much as the labor involved in plowing or using a spade. However, I continued to do the same thing for a long time. Age was falling too .
It was always going on in my mind that wage labor could not be done. At that time, I fell asleep and started sewing shoes and slippers to support the family. Never had a problem working. However, we had to think about the issue of earning two/four paisa more by working in some places.
at that time was not the same as it is now. For three/four villages, daily necessities were bought and sold from the haat market, which took place two days a week, customers also came to the haat to repair shoes and slippers. I started working by setting up a shop in the nearby villages Potri, Portaha, Baramzhia and others. From the very first day, customers began to fill up all around the shop . Around 2059/060 the earnings and income would be good . There is no need to worry about supporting the family. At that time, I used to save 2/300 a week by running the house . In comparison, it should be said that they will not repair shoes and slippers now.
Nowadays hardly 5/7 customers come to a shop to get their shoes-sandals repaired. It is rare to get police. Some pay 10 rupees while others pay 20 rupees for sewing shoes and slippers. Sewing repairs cost up to 40 rupees. Even more than that. If someone comes to polish shoes, they will pay up to 40 rupees . Some even give only 25/30 rupees . But, till today I have not taxed anyone to pay that much. Sometimes some people give too much in their own way . That's why I didn't find a reason to tax.
Buying polish, brushes and thread doesn't cost that much . If bought once, it will last for 6 months . All it takes is effort. Especially in the afternoon, while going to the haat on a bicycle, the condition is worsened by the next sun. If you stop at a roadside shop, it's usually sunny there too. After finishing the work at the haat from 2.30 am to evening, it was from 2 to 500. Here (Potri) there is a hot on Wednesday and Saturday. Tuesday and Friday at Portaha. From where you enter from the main road to the east, there is a haat on Mondays and Fridays in Baramzhia.
I work four/five days a week running a shop in a haat . At least one and a half hundred rupees should be saved on the day of work . The expenses will start from here! First of all, when returning from here, you should also take food worth 20/30 rupees for your grandchildren. My five sons have 9 children . Four of them have grown up. There are five school-age grandchildren. They don't even agree to go to school without taking 10/10 rupees daily. Before going to school, they come and stand near saying 'Dada-Dada' (grandfather-grandfather). I also act like I don't care for a moment.
I slowly take money out of my pocket again and look at everyone's face . When I start sharing . And Nanibabu Makkh . With the smile on their faces, I forget all the pain and suffering of having to work in the sun and rain. When Nanibabu is happy, my heart is also happy . That moment is not the least happy moment for me . That's why I save one and a half hundred per working day . If no customers come for the rest of the day, I can keep the laughter of my grandchildren the next morning.
Now even boys are earning. The household is their responsibility . No worries about medication. There is no disease that requires daily medicine. Sometimes you have to take medicine if you have a cold or fever. All of that will be covered by social security allowance.
