I wake up as soon as the sun rises. I reach the place of work carrying an old hammer and iron. I am now 48 years old. I was born in Ajaymeru-2, Hatgaon of the district. Since I did not study and write, I am running the household expenses by doing the sawing job that my ancestors used to do.
Two decades ago, I started working by building a small tower in Tufandanda of the headquarter and building an aran house. Earlier, the profession was limited only to the village . Gradually, the practice of migrating from the village and coming to the headquarters started. In the same wave, I also came to the market with traditional skills in the belief that I will make a lot of money.
When I started working on Tufandanda, I only had an iron heating pot, firewood, bark and skills in my hands. Customers didn't come at first because they didn't know each other . Nevertheless, I went on working . There was confidence that one day no customer would come. Little by little, some people started coming to make shovels and others to repair sickles.
With the number of people who come to Aran every day with work, the earnings also increased . Sometimes one thousand and sometimes 1500 was earned a day . After that, there was no problem for flour and dal-rice. There were 6 people in the family, we never had to go hungry. There was no shortage of delicious food and new clothes during the festival. Such happiness did not last.
There is Tufandanda Bazar next to Mahakali Highway. Amargadhi Municipality has issued a notice to clear the land by removing the 15 meters around the road in the Tufandanda area. After the release of the information, the heart was broken . We gave up and asked for an alternative somewhere in the market. But the municipality knows only to remove the tower. Didn't discuss the options. Dismissing a small business is a direct kick in the gut . All my sweat, dreams and time wasted .
Local social worker Prakash Saund gave him a place on his land after seeing that he had been displaced and reached the road. After this, I found a new destination in front of the place where I was doing business. Until the municipality makes another arrangement, it is said to stay here for free . Had it not been for Saund sir, I would have probably quit my job . Now I am building a new tower on his land and running it. However, customers are not coming as before. After not seeing me in the previous place, the customer also turned his way! Now I go to the old tower and stand there to show the place where there is a new aran.
Now the income has decreased . One day only one hundred/two hundred is earned . It is difficult to cover the expenses of a family of 6 people with this much money . Bass is available for free. I need money to join my hands in the morning and evening! Don't eat breakfast to save expenses. I eat only two cups of dal-rice . I live here alone . However, they had to buy water ration and clothes for the families in the village. 2/3 times a month when you go home, you run out of food . When I go home in 10/15 days, I will buy pulses and rice and take them . Now hardly earns 8/10 thousand per month.
is not spent when there is an emergency. At that time, you have to take out a loan and run your daily life . When the festival comes, it is important to eat delicious food, there is no end of lentils and rice. Sometimes my wife asks, 'What should I do now?' Her question just pinches me. I don't have an answer to the question of what to do now . Since then, how many people left their skills and started traveling for foreign employment. I also thought that I should go abroad once. However, I was proud of this soil and profession and the skills in my hands. That's why you can't leave the country.
