Apart from the working people, the residents of Sharda Municipality-2, Vishwakarma Toll of Salyan are sleeping. I used to sleep with an alarm on my mobile phone because I couldn't open my eyes at five o'clock in the morning.

As soon as I wake up in the morning, drinking dhoivari tea in my hands, I go to the aran without thinking and light the fire . After the goal is lit, I start making khukri, khuda, chulesi and knife for that day. After working till 9 in the morning, I eat and rest for an hour . Then there is no rest until the evening .

I turned 36 this year . After shaping the iron in the round, I use a modern machine to sharpen the corners and edges . No matter how much money is spent, it takes two days to make a weapon. Now a days, selling a khukuri or khunda earns 2500 to 3000. You have to sit empty-handed on non-sale days. 

I am earning 40,000 to 50,000 per month by doing what I learned from my ancestors. Expenses are also according to the income . This income earned by suffering for a month is barely enough to cover the household expenses for four people . It costs more than 30,000 in a month to feed four people, to educate the child, to pay for the treatment of illness and to buy food for the day.

In a month, four people need a bag of rice worth 2,500. We need three liters of oil worth 750 rupees. A kilo of salt costs 25 rupees. A kilo of dal costs 150 to 160 rupees. Most of the vegetables cost around 80 to 100 rupees per kg.

Coal is used to smelt iron . 50 rupees should be paid for one maund of coal . Coal costs more than 30 dhangs in a month . Had to take meat and one or two sips of wine to get rid of the tiredness of working from morning till night. Even if you can save up to 20,000 per month after paying your children's school fees, drinking water, electricity bills, etc., you will not be able to save this amount of money per month because you will spend on medical expenses and other expenses. 

I bought a house for 700,000 with the money I earned by selling khukuri, khunda, chulesi, sickles, knives and took a loan. However, during the repair, the cost reached 14 lakhs. I can't sleep all night thinking about 10 lakh rupees out of it. Remembering how to repay so much debt, the days pass by. Due to this debt, wife and children are also worried. 

Due to the Maoist rebellion at that time, the profession collapsed after the local administration made Khukuri strict. Due to difficulty in raising household expenses, I dropped out of school in 2057 and at the age of 12 I went to India's Kalapahad with my friends. I could not earn anything other than living and eating while working in different places of India for 6 years . I have been in this profession since I returned home in 2063 after peace was established in the country. As the demand for khukuri and khunda is coming more than before, even though the earnings are good, it is not possible to save money.
