According to the Auditor General's report, irregularities have been committed by the local levels in mid-day meals, free sanitary pads for female students, textbooks and scholarships.
According to the 62nd annual report of the Public Auditor General on Wednesday, 124 local levels have spent money on midday meals without verifying the attendance of students in the current year. It has been seen that Rs. 279.99 lakhs 29 thousand rupees were spent on lunch without student attendance records.
It has been mentioned that there is a violation of the rule that lunch cannot be spent without proof of attendance. The government has been providing funds at the rate of Rs. 15 per day to the students of public schools up to class 5 for mid-day meals.
Similarly, the report mentions that although 151 local levels purchased sanitary pads worth 90.8 million 75 thousand rupees and spent money, those materials did not reach the target group but remained in the local level's storage.
'Even though sanitary pads have been purchased and expensed, those pads have to be sent to schools for the use of the target group, but they are still available in the local warehouse. According to the report, the use of materials should be ensured by purchasing them on the basis of need.
Similarly, it has been mentioned that the local levels are arbitrary in the distribution of free textbooks and scholarships. 206 local levels have issued textbooks worth Rs 3 crore 62 lakh 65 thousand more than the actual number of students. Similarly, it is mentioned that more than 1 crore 68 lakh 1 thousand rupees have been disbursed in scholarships.
According to the report, 220 local levels disbursed 2.5 billion 1 lakh rupees from internal sources to out-of-status teachers without reaching the approved quota of teachers.
