Nepali film in the international market

Every filmmaker dreams of showing his film at an international festival. I had a few things that I felt needed to be said. I made a film 'Songs of Love and Hate.' This is a film I made while studying Masters. Masters I studied film direction at Lucca School of Arts in Belgium.

Towards the end of film college, the final project had to be made. I had some old footage of hiking and sightseeing. The idea came to make a short film using those footages.

At the beginning I was writing the script, writing the dialogues. Later I left it while writing. I have old footage, my friends were surprised to make this joint. Teachers too. They did not say the city. He tried to convince me how to do it. I explained, but they could not be convinced. I had in my mind that this film would be made.

Around January 2023, I came across the main idea I needed for the film. The story has a radio show. The film was edited after 5/6 months. Finished in June. Graduation happened. I also applied for festivals. 6 months later came a reply from Berlin. The film 'Songs of Love and Hate' also won the Special Men's Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. A

festival will give a good boost to the film. The number of movie watchers is increasing. We had 4 screenings in Berlin. All the screening halls were booked. The film's mileage festival is doing very well. It is possible to connect to the global market. There are film schools in Nepal. Friends from film school are making short films. A short film is usually a practice for a feature film. Tomorrow everyone has to make a feature film. To make a feature film, you have to prove yourself to some extent.

Short films are the perfect way to understand your film making. This is where I see the importance of short films. That is to learn by making multiple short films. Otherwise, the market value is low. I understand my art, improve or develop it is a short film.  The

was played with firms in short films. Got to play with the narration. Different techniques were used. In foreign countries, they are separated as Audio Visual Department. There was a separate course for students attending the Belgian Film School. To give money only to the students of that film school. I got it too. Those countries are aware of the development of the film. They are trying to develop their film field, audio visual industry.

Interesting in Belgium I was able to apply for the graduation project even though I passed out. They used to give 50,000 euros. 50,000 euros each were allocated to the four genres that applied, fiction, documentary, animation, and experimental. He was able to apply because he passed out from film schools all over Belgium.  They used to have their own archive in the

film preserve. It contributed to the development of the film industry. Now in Nepal, it seems that the government agencies are participating in programs such as film screening, projection, and theater to make the topic more active, award programs to recognize filmmakers.

Connecting Nepali films with the international market, organizing programs together with filmmakers who have reached the international market, and finding a market has never been done. The market is very broad.

A trend has developed over the last decade. Making a short film, applying outside, bringing funds from outside, bringing funds and making a film in Nepal, taking the film outside and selling it. It is not that only limited results have not come. However, it only helped the filmmaker personally. Awareness should be raised among the producers as well.

As long as we bring funds from outside and think of making films in Nepal, it will not be effective. You should be able to raise investment here. Only a few filmmakers get it from outside. One or two filmmakers can do it. However, that space was not created here. Unless we can do it by convincing here. There are obstacles in the development of the film sector.
