I also started playing cricket after seeing my brothers playing cricket in the village. After SLC, he moved from Kalaiya to Hetaunda for Plus Two studies and became more fond of cricket. I started playing continuously. I represented Makwanpur district in the U-16 tournament. There have been many changes in cricket these days.

At the beginning, the condition of the Siddheshwar Cricket Ground in Kalaiya, when playing school level cricket, has deteriorated even more than that. At that time the level of the field was equal. Even the grass looked green. There were three turf wickets for playing cricket. Now there is only one turf wicket.

The condition of the field is getting worse. As there is no boundary wall, people tend to walk from the middle part of the ground. As there is no other ground in Kalaiya apart from this, players of other sports also come to play here. As a result, there has been a problem in the management of the field. In the morning and in the evening the youth play football in the field. Cricket players practice in the afternoon. This field is also the playground of school students on holidays. 

To protect the playground, there is a need to build a boundary wall on all sides. It is better if the management of the ground is given to the Bara Cricket Association. Construction of turf wickets, maintenance of grounds requires staff to be appointed. As there are no playgrounds in other places in Kalaiya, school students come to this ground to play cricket and football on holidays.

For the proper management of the ground, arrangements should be made for local players to play separately. When we started cricket, the ground conditions were much better than now. At that time, local clubs and district qualifiers could only be played here. This is the ground where Kalaiya practices when he comes home. 

If we talk about the national level, the players have got good services from the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN). Earlier, when there was a tournament, the players used to hold a camp for 10 days a week. Now, when there is a big tournament, a camp of 40 to 45 days is started. There is also provision of professional staff. Batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, strength and physical coach, physio and other supporting staff have been arranged.

so that the player has got a lot of features. Compared to the past, there are more domestic cricket competitions now. Until two years ago, there was only PM Cup in the name of domestic cricket tournament. Currently, competitions like NPL, Jai Trophy, Arjun Trophy, Nidhi Cup, Veer Ganeshman Cup and others are giving good opportunities to domestic cricket players. 

When I entered the national team for the first time in 2018 and compared to now, the players have got more opportunities and services. Back then there was only one support staff. There was only one coach and one manager. At that time, there were neither many days of camps nor many qualifying competitions. The selection of players has now started by holding a national level competition. In the past, most of the players were selected by calling directly to the camp. Players now have plenty of opportunities to showcase their abilities.

Before, the players did not even get salary. Currently, there is a system for players to get regular salary according to classification. The Nepal Premier League (NPL), which was completed three months ago under the organization of CAN, has further inspired the players to become professionals. The players got a chance to practice with the international players. They shared a dressing room. Got international exposure. All these things have increased the morale of Nepalese players. 'Franchise' leagues like NPL have made it easier for Nepali players to become independent. 

CAN has now appointed a coach in each province. If every district can have a coach and conduct regular practice, more good players will be produced. A better structure has not been built at the grassroots. It is necessary to start a club level cricket tournament to strengthen domestic cricket. Local players get an opportunity to perform in club level cricket. 

In the past, clubs from Mumbai and Kolkata used to come to play cricket tournaments in Kalaiya. Teams from Bhairahawa, Biratnagar and Kathmandu used to reach the Kalaiya cricket ground to play the tournament. However, that is not the case now. Currently, no club cricket tournament has been organized. Due to which the players have not got the opportunity to play much. Local players do not show much enthusiasm towards cricket. He has only worked hard. However, they do not get the opportunity to play the competition in time. That makes them discouraged.

Once a year, the players will be allowed to play only if there is a qualifying tournament for U-16, U-19 and PM Cup. There should be other competitions at the local level. Earlier there used to be many school and college level competitions, but now those competitions have also disappeared. If these competitions were conducted, enthusiasm for the game would be instilled from an early age. They get a platform to perform games. The same player, who played from a young age, later played for the senior team.

These days those contests don't happen. Earlier there were competitions between clubs even at the local level. Now even those clubs have disappeared. There was a competition going to Ganjbhawanipur, Prasauni, Valuhi every twelve months. Training alone is of no use if the players do not play in the competitions. There must be a platform to showcase your game. If there is no competition, players are forced to play qualifying matches directly. 

If only selection matches are held once a year and there are no other competitions, it will be difficult for the players to get support and support from their families. After performing well in the competition, the family gets to know and feel 'proud'. Families also encourage their children to play. 

Even in my village Patura there were two teams playing tennis ball cricket at that time. However, now a player is not enough even for a team. Cricket is not played in the village like before. Not only cricket, I find other sports activities also relaxing. Not only cricket, earlier also sports like football and volleyball were highly preferred by the youth in the village. The district sports development committee has come to seriously consider this.  There should be a deep discussion on why the new generation is not attracted to

sports. It seems that there is no attraction towards sports even though there is no sports infrastructure in this area. Not only Kalaiya, but also Birganj, the economic and commercial city which is 12 km away from here, has not been able to build sports infrastructure. The Narayani cricket ground has not been upgradable as the land compensation dispute that has been going on for almost a decade has not been resolved. The adjacent Narayani football ground has also been dilapidated for a long time. As the government did not provide the budget for the reconstruction, the construction work has not been able to accelerate. 

There are still few opportunities in Nepali cricket. Junior players should continue regular training if they want to become good cricketers. There are very few opportunities in Nepali cricket. Even if there are one or two competitions in a year, you should prepare yourself for that. For that, seniors need to teach juniors how much to practice, how much to work hard, how to keep themselves fit. No coaches have been appointed in the district. Coaches are appointed only for qualifying matches.
