The 'Chalo Sansad' march has begun in New Delhi on Monday on the call of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). When a large number of people gathered at Jantar Mantar were about to go to the Parliament building, security personnel tried to stop them.
According to Indian media, the police have even resorted to lathicharge to disperse the participants in the march. The Delhi Police has been saying that permission for the march cannot be given. The protesters want to reach the Parliament building and put forward their demands as the monsoon session of Parliament is about to begin from Monday.
Leaders of various opposition parties have also reached the march. Azad Samajwadi Party (Kashiram) chief Chandrashekhar Azad, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and other leaders are also participating in the march. Similarly, Aam Aadmi Party leaders Atishi, Manish Sisolia, Sanjay Singh and other leaders, who are also former Chief Minister of Delhi, are also participating in the march.
Actors including Prakash Raj, Sabana Azmi, Vishal Dadlani, Sonakshi Sinha, Swara Bhaskar have also expressed support for the students' movement. Delhi Police has claimed that around 8,000 people participated in the CJP march.
