Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have suffered a setback in their quest to qualify for Qualifier 1 of the Indian Premier League Cricket. RCB, who have already reached the playoffs, defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 42 runs on Friday.
RCB, who came to Lucknow with a target of 232 runs, were bowled out for 189 runs in 19.5 overs. RCB failed to meet the target after captain Pat Cummins took 3 wickets for 28 runs in 4 overs and Ishan Malinga took 2 wickets for 37 runs in 4 overs.
RCB openers Virat Kohli 43 and Phil Salt 62 runs were dismissed. Kohli hit 7 fours and 1 six in 25 balls and Salt hit 4 fours and 5 sixes in 32 balls. But then Mayank Aggarwal 11, Rajat Patidar 18, captain Jitesh Sharma 24, Ramario Sephard nil and Tim David were out for 1 run.
Earlier, Hyderabad, who lost the toss and batted for Ishan Kishan's unbeaten 94, lost 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and scored 231 runs. After scoring a century in the first match, Kishan could only score 125 runs. But the last innings has given Kishan a lot of confidence.
Kishan hit 7 fours and 5 sixes in a 48-ball innings. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head added 54 runs in 4 overs to give Hyderabad a stormy start. Head hit 3 fours off 10 balls and was dismissed for 17 runs. Abhishek scored 34 runs off 17 balls with 3 fours and a six. Henrik Klaassen was dismissed for 24 off 13 balls and Aniket Burma was out for 26 off 9 balls. RCB's Romario Safford took 2 wickets.
