South African legends cricketer Jonty Rhodes has signed a 3-year contract with Pokhara Avengers for Nepal Premier League Cricket.
Manobal Shrestha, the owner of Pokhara Avengers, the most expensive franchise team of NPL, has announced that former South African cricketer Rhodes has been appointed as a consultant and advisor to the team for the Nepal Premier League.
Rhodes will now take over the role previously held by Indian cricketer and coach Sandeep Patil. Owner Shrestha said, "We are very excited to have Rhodes in our team. His experience will make Pokhara Avengers even more brilliant.
Rhodes has worked with Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL. After being appointed as Pokhara's mentor, Rhodes said through Pokhara's release, 'I am excited to be in this team. Now I will try to strengthen the team by supporting all the players and head coach Rajeev Kumar through my skills and experience.'
Rhodes briefly coached Nepal's national team and age group teams a few years ago. Pokhara Avengers have signed three players in the quota of four foreign players. Rhodes will come to Nepal in the first week of November. He has represented South Africa in 52 Tests and 245 ODIs.
