Youth and Sports Minister Virajbhakt Shrestha on Wednesday took information from the National Khalkud Council and the Nepal Olympic Committee about Nepali athletes participating in the upcoming Paris Olympics and their preparations.

Seven athletes have been confirmed to participate in the Paris Olympics. Minister Shrestha discussed the participation and responsibilities with officials including Rakep Member Secretary Tanklal Ghising, Olympic Committee Vice President Jyoti Rana and Secretary General Nilendraraj Shrestha.

He has given instructions to send a team within the standards based on the requirements in case of officials other than athletes. Minister Shrestha has instructed the Nepal Olympic Committee to submit information to the Ministry through the National Sports Council about the participating Nepali team within a week.

Member Secretary Ghising informed that among the seven participating athletes, Shantu Shrestha of table tennis is in Australia, Duwana Lama of swimming is in Thailand and Alexander Shah is in America individually and Prince Dahal of badminton is in Sri Lanka for overseas training.

The Olympic Committee informed that the process for the accreditation of the coaches sent by the respective associations has been advanced. According to NOC, no one has been named from Badminton. There is also a possibility that Prince will go to the Olympics in Paris without his coach.

Athletics' Santoshi Shrestha, Shooting's Sushmita Nepal and Judo's Manita Shrestha Pradhan, who got a wild card only on Tuesday, were informed that they will be given training expenses at the rate of 2 thousand per day from June. Member Secretary Ghising said that 5 million budget was spent for the preparation and to play the qualifying tournament according to the demands of the national association.

Minister Shrestha said that there is a budget allocation of 9 million for Paris Olympics and Para Olympics. Ghising informed that the procurement process for the necessary materials for participation in the Paris Olympics has been advanced.
