On this day (April 28) in 2003, American tennis player Andre Agassi became the oldest man to reach the top spot in the men's tennis world rankings.
Agassi was 33 years and 13 days old when he reached No. 1 in the ATP rankings for the second time. At the time, Agassi became the oldest player in the history of the ATP World Rankings to reach the top spot.
Agassi's record was later broken by Roger Federer (36) and Novak Djokovic (36). Agassi was still ranked number one in the world on April 10, 1995.
In his 20-year career, Agassi won the Australian Open four times, the French Open once, Wimbledon once and the US Open twice. Agassi retired from active sports on September 3, 2006.
