Many may think that Lima Adhikari suddenly entered politics. However, her foundation was very old and strong. ‘It doesn’t matter that politics runs in my veins,’ says Lima, the daughter of the then influential leader of the CPN-UML and former Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, with pride.

The fertile soil of Biratnagar, from where a political generation taught Lima Adhikari to dream. She has been touring the villages of Morang since childhood, holding her father's hand. She has experienced the political ups and downs of underground politics and the family's political legacy up close.
Lima, who witnessed the political ups and downs of the then influential leader of the CPN-UML and former Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, is today standing in the policy-making arena as a member of the House of Representatives from the National Independent Party (NISP).
On the one hand, she has a deep family background in the communist movement, and on the other, modern professional and managerial skills. Lima, who recently resigned from the post of Public Director of Nepal Infrastructure Bank (NIFRA) and took up a full-time parliamentary role, considers this journey of hers to be a journey of her well-wishers, saying, 'This is not just obtaining the post of an MP, but also a bridge connecting the legacy of loyalty with modernity.'
Many may think that Lima suddenly entered politics. But her foundation was very old and strong. ‘It doesn’t matter that politics runs in my veins,’ she says proudly. Ever since the 2046/47 people’s movement brought multi-party politics to the country, she had started walking alongside her father Bharat Mohan and her great-grandfather Man Mohan Adhikari in their election campaigns.
Those secret meetings with Siddhilal Singh of Patan, where her father would sometimes take her along. Those moments made Lima understand the depth and loyalty of politics more than the game of power. She spent her school life in Siddharth Vanasthali, Lima. While studying in school, she was influenced by Baka’s political work. Lima was a direct witness to the historic program ‘Let’s build our own village’ that Bharat Mohan brought when he was the Finance Minister in 2051. Now I think, 'Where was UML like that time?' Although she also worked in the UML organization along with her business. But she could not remain satisfied. She turned to the journey of alternative politics.
Lima's personality is not only shaped by her political background. She has completed her Bachelor's and MBA in Computer Science from the famous 'Huachung University of Science and Technology' in China. She put the skills of industrial management and marketing she learned in China into practice after returning to Nepal.
In her professional journey of nearly two and a half decades, she gained invaluable experience in the fields of women's health, wellness, hydropower and banking. While working as a member of the executive committee and senior vice president of the Women's Chamber for 10 years at the Nepal Chamber of Commerce, she made the promotion of domestic products and the empowerment of women entrepreneurs her main agenda. She has proven herself as a skilled manager by serving as a public director for four and a half years in organizations like NIFRA and Emerging Nepal.
In alternative politics, she says she was attracted by the vision of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) party president Ravi Lamichhane. Ravi's personality and the issues he raised influenced Lima. Lima has been associated with the RSSS since its inception.
In the party, she initially handled the financial management department and later assumed important and technical responsibilities like the party's 'treasurer'. Lima believes that there should be financial transparency in politics. She claims that the RSSS is not under the financial burden of any 'interest group'.
'The party has been running with the small support of our more than 3 lakh members and well-wishers,' she says. During the political vendetta against the leadership and difficult times during the party's formation, she remained a 'strong pillar', which made her a more trusted figure within the party.
Lima, who entered parliament as a proportional representation MP, has a clear path ahead - a liberal economy with social justice. Her main goal is to fill the 'policy gap' in Nepal. She says that she will focus on balancing environmental laws and development, removing unnecessary laws and creating necessary laws.
'I am determined to use my years of industry and professional experience in the country's policymaking,' she said firmly. Meanwhile, Lima, who is working for senior citizens and women through the Bharat Mohan Adhikari Memorial Foundation, is trying to advance the coordination of social services and politics in a beautiful way.
There is great dissatisfaction with the party that Lima was built by watering down by outsiders. Because, she is accused of destroying it by the previous leadership. She feels, ‘The current communist leaders have not become responsible to the people in the pursuit of ‘earning’.’ However, she promises not to let the legacy of loyalty of her father and grandfathers die. ‘I will always protect that loyalty,’ she promises.
