Sagar Bhusal, the candidate of the National Independent Party (NISP), has won the House of Representatives from Parbat. He defeated his 'heavyweight' opponent and won with 26,561 votes.

His nearest competitor, Arjun Prasad Joshi, a central member of the Nepali Congress, received 15,954 votes. Similarly, Padam Giri of the CPN-UML received 15,755 votes and Manahari Timilsina of the CPN-UML received 4,557 votes.

Bhusal defeated leaders with long political experience in this election. Joshi of the Congress had been an MP three times in 2056, 2064 and 2070. Giri of the UML had become an MP twice in 2074 and 2079 and had also held the responsibilities of minister and chief whip.

The winner Bhusal was previously active in politics from the Congress. He even became the district secretary of the Congress's sister organization, Tarun Dal. He had hoped to fill the vacant post of acting president when Tarun Dal's then president Toran Malla Thakuri went to the local level elections. After not getting the responsibility, he left the Congress due to dissatisfaction with the party. Although some Congress leaders tried to bring him back to the party, he did not return to the Congress after getting a ticket from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Bhusal, 44, of Devisthan, Falebas Municipality-6, had lived in Israel for about 10 years during foreign employment. After returning home, he is involved in tourism and industrial business. Bhusal, who runs Hotel Romantica in Pokhara, is also associated with Panchpandav UPVC Industry. 'Foreign employment has not only given him employment experience,' he said, 'I have directly experienced what kind of opportunities the state can create for citizens and how good governance can change lives.' He says that he has visited more than 25 countries and closely observed their development, agriculture, employment and tourism.

He says that the needs of the country today and the desires of the youth won him over. ‘The old parties have ruled for the last 36 years, now we demand that they look at us once,’ he said, ‘If we cannot do the job, we will not come to the people’s doorstep next time.’ After being elected, he has committed to working in the areas of establishing good governance, controlling corruption, agricultural development, youth skills and employment, health and education.
