Janak Singh Dhami of the Nepali Congress Party has been elected in Kanchanpur-1 by getting 24,332 votes. His nearest rival, Bina Magar of the Nepali Communist Party, has got 11,110 votes. Gopi Upadhyay of the Nepali Congress Party has got 8,467 votes and Tara Lama Tamang of the Nepali Communist Party has got 8,467 votes.

After serving in politics at various levels of the Nepali Congress Party for three decades, he even went to Korea for employment. After working in Korea for 10 years, he joined the National Independent Party in 2080.
The same Dhami, who has been involved in Nepali Congress politics since his student days, has been elected from the Nepali Congress Party in Kanchanpur-1. Participating in the election for the first time, he began his parliamentary journey by defeating influential leaders of the Nepali Congress Party and the Nepali Communist Party.
In Dhami's constituency, Bina Magar, daughter-in-law of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, was in the fray from the NCP and Tara Lama Tamang, former MP from the UML. Dhami began his parliamentary journey by defeating them by a wide margin. The Congress had fielded Gopi Prasad Upadhyay as a candidate from that constituency. Upadhyay is also contesting elections for the first time in that constituency.
Dhami, who was born in 2027 in Shailyashikhar Municipality-3, Darchula, is married in Beldandi Rural Municipality-4, which falls under Constituency No. 1. Along with politics, he is also involved in agriculture. He is also engaged in banana cultivation in the Punarbas Municipality.
He has been leading issues at the local level, from the delay in the construction of the postal road to controlling the erosion of the Doda River, and says that he will prioritize solving such problems. He said that he would take the initiative to prevent the youth of Karan from the open border from getting addicted to drugs.
